Franklin vs Brentwood

Not much detail as I had to leave at half. First half was pretty even back and forth with Franklin getting a few more shots than Brentwood but no goals. Kids that stayed the whole game tell me Franklin was awarded a late PK for foul in the box.

These games lose a little of the intensity when you see each other during regular season, then district finals and then region finals knowing both will advance. Mainly playing for bragging rights and home field advantage in Sectionals. Even Sectionals loose a little interest this year as Beech and Hendersonville have not been very competitive to upper District 11 teams. Hendersonville appears to be doing better than early season. I expect Brentwood and Franklin will take care of business at hand in Sectional matches.

I agree with RaptorFan. The game was back and forth during the 2nd half as well and very physical with numerous fouls being called all over the field. Brentwood had a couple of good scoring opportunites that were turned away, as did Franklin. The goal did come on a PK as a Franklin forward was tackled inside of the 6 with 1:04 to go in the game. I do disagree with RaptorFan regarding the meaning of this game. This is a very intense rivalary that neither team wants to lose. The game was very physical and the intensity was quite high. Both teams were exhausted at the end. The mid state, especially district 11 will be well represented by these two teams next week, it they take care of business on Saturday. Either one could win the title, especially with what is happening on the east and west sides of the state.

Thanks for the information on the game. I have to say that I'll agree with soccerfan in that this rivalry is too intense for this game to be meaningless. I don't believe that there is a player on either team that is okay with losing this game even though this was not a "do or die" game!

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
