Malcolm Mackey of Brainerd & City's Orlando Lightf

I know that Mackey played a little in the NBA at Phoenix after going to GA Tech, but haven't heard anything about him after that and have heard nothing about Lightfoot since he graduated from Idaho.

Has been playing in Europe mostly in Germany and Belgium?? maybe. I think he is still playing.

Malcolm Mackey was killed in a car accident several years ago. I think Lightfoot is coaching somewhere.

If Mackey was killed he must have risen from the grave like Lazarus. This post startled me so I searched the web. He is listed as playing for a team from France as recently as this year. This is the same player.

I think it was Warren Mackey, a very good but undersized 6-3 post player from Central, who was killed in the auto accident. I think he was kin to Malcolm Mackey, but I am not sure. Malcolm Mackey was very good but was a little too small at 6-9 or 10 to play post at the highest levels.

 

As for Lightfoot, he was one of the most gifted basketball players I ever had the privilege to see. He was 6-7 with a great body who could do most everything on the court -- shoot outside, take it inside, handle, rebound, block shots. My guess is that he was too small to play inside in the pros and too slow (relatively) to play outside. It would not surprise me at all to hear that he is still playing ball somewhere.
