Powell Hosts Walker Valley

Powell after receiving home-field advantage will host Walker Valley in the first round. After doing a little bit of research on Walker Valley, I think Powell will come out on top. Powells defense is excellent at making the other teams offense make mistakes. And from what I've heard, thats what tends to happen to WV. Fumbles, INTs, And a slower but big line could hurt them, depending on how they play. #3 Kier Houston has really stepped is game up and is gonna need to even more this game. WVs defense tends to stay back and not blitz as much. So makin good choices is key to this victory. Im hopin for a big night out of Andrew Hansen, like he had against Clinton, Tyler Drummer, and Devin Collins. So if defense does their part and offense does theirs Powell will win especially with the home-field advantage.

I never thought that Powell would end up playing Walker Valley (since no one expected them to beat Cleveland), but they really played an excellent game on Friday night. As explosive as Cleveland is, Powell will present a lot of that same explosiveness against WV. Kier Houston continues to impress me. The way the defense has played in the 2nd half for the last 3 weeks has really impressed me. If that trend continues, Powell should win this game.

Walker Valley is a pretty good team. Athletes all over the field, big line, strong defense. Has a problem turning over the ball, but did a pretty good job of holding on to the ball Friday night. Best Player would have to be #15 Brice Sharp. Skill players are quick, not going to throw alot of deep balls, lots of short passes but recievers have to ability to make yards after catch. Nothing fancy on defense, going to be physical and hard hitting. Still learning how to win when they aren't playing their best. Not going to outscore anybody in a shootout, rely on defense to keep them in the game. GO MUSTANGS

I can assure you that NOBODY from Powell is taking Walker Valley lightly in any shape, form, or fashion. Any team that is able to defeat Cleveland has to have athletes and be able to execute. I expect a close, tough game on Friday night.

I agree, HTV. Powell should expect a battle from WV. No team from here on out can be taken lightly. I think this group knows that they have to fight hard for everything they achieve. GO PANTHERS!

This is a interesting game. Powell is a very strong team out of Region 3, that can score and score in bunches like they did against Clinton. Walker Valley not a overly powerful team but the can be dangerous. If the Walker Valley team that showed up and played Rhea shows up at Powell, then Powell will get the win pretty easily. However if the Walker Valley team that shows up and played Cleveland and Red Bank then it will be a good close game. Walker Valley does have trouble turning the ball over like they did against Rhea with 7 ints. If they don't turn the ball over they should give Powell a run for their money. I would like to see Walker Valley get the win, but Powell may just be to good for Walker Valley.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
