Mckenzie At Union City

Some of these posters whose teams are now playing basketball are taking the winners of region 7 A to task for winning because their team couldn't win the big one. I want McKenzie to beat Union City but if Union City is the winner they should have the support of the other region 7 A teams and the same for Lake County and Gleason. Region 7 A has proved for the past couple of years that we have strong football programs that usually make some noise in the playoffs. It is odd that teams from region 7 A will have to eliminate 2 teams from 7 A but hopefully a team from 7 A will go to Murfreesboro.

Union City, McKenzie, Lake County and Gleason have all played with a lot of heart, injuries and bad officiating all year and should be praised for keeping their season alive. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Go REBELS !!!!

ANYWAY YOU LOOK AT IT REGION 7A WILL BE REPRESENTED IN THE FINAL 4...PRETTY COOL

logger....One of my fraternity brothers is Shawn Simon. He was the center, I think. We've been talking about going down there if both Union City and Jo Byrns makes it to the Semis....Such a great atmosphere down there.....Good luck against Wayne Co.

To P&G...... That's all I usually do when I see posts like that LOL...How about them Titans?

Oh and Go Union City.....

McKenzie has done nothing to disrespect any of our opponents so why the "used to"???? butchie is a pot stirrer. Every team has one! We still have respect for anyone we play.....even butchie. Come over to a game and meet up with us and you will see. McKenzie/the Rebels are no different than we ever were except for being a better team lately. We have caught crap from one or two class A schools ever since TSSAA moved us down here, for being a "big school"!!!!! I'm sick of it personally and losing my sense of humor/tolerance for it. The only thing that we have done to Greenfield is boost the income of Wimpy's one night every other year plus fill ya'lls "little" stadium to overflowing every other year!!!!! Greenfield has our respect but, likely not you so much. Respect is earned, not given.

We played a school with an enrollment of around 700 last night in indian country and came out with a W. On our way to Memphis our being a smaller school never crossed our minds I promise you!!! The only thought we had was to come home with a W. You know, kinda like Milan thinks!!!! Milan has an awsome football program that has never worried about playing the "big schools" and just went with the flow. We have kind of become that way. Gleason beat the #1 team in 8A last night. They are smaller than Greenfield and they aren't throwing out the "little" excuse. Likely, every team in the playoffs from 7A faced a bigger opponent last night. We all won and that is great. If Greenfield had been one of the 4 of us I would be just as proud of the region.

Give it a rest man. If you don't want to like butchie, that's your right (if you actually would meet him you would change your mind and would know what his game is), but don't classify an entire team/town because you have a problem with reality.

Face it even Milan has some pretty cocky posters and you know it!!!

If you will go to the Mckenzie/Manassas thread you will see that it did in fact cross some Mckenzie fans minds. That's the sort of thing that gets me irritated. People from small schools make the point that it is harder for them to compete with you because you are over 2 times their size. I didn't say it was your fault, but it does make it harder to compete. I'm a fan of a big 2A school and I can see that. Mckenzie fans say they are whiners. Well go read posts from some of your fans whining that Manassas doesn't belong in 1A. It's not that I don't like Butchie, I don't know him. I just find him to be an arrogant poster. Sometimes humility is the way to go. I agree that Milan does have some pretty cocky posters, and you know what, I call them out to. Ask some guy named Husker. He is as cocky as they come.

i believe that if mackenzie could hold the rushing attack of manasas they will beat union city

If you didn't know, Union City has already played and beat Mckenzie. Sounds like a great game and I would go if Huntingdon wasn't still in it. I just don't see Union City pulling out another win.

Mckenzie by 10!!!!

    • Lee would have been a good choice, also.  I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
