There is a board on CoachT just for you, it's called the Jr. High Board. Try it, I think it'll be right up your ally. No thanks necessary. Enjoy!

Most of us who graduated Jr. High know how to spell "alley" there partner. If you really want me to get involved I will. You folks from up in Carter County, or wherever it is you come from tend to want to live and dwell in the past. I'm sure I'm not the only one bothered by the constant rhetoric of you all telling everybody how good you "used" to be. Cosby did beat Unaka TWICE this year. Sure North Greene beat Cosby. Old24 was simply stating that Cosby had beaten Unaka TWICE and all of a sudden the talk turns to how good your district is and how bad theirs is. If you couldn't take a little good fun in jest, I apologize. God, you people kill me! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Let me help you out, 1960 Hampton State Champions, 1974 Happy Vally State Champions, 2004 Unaka State Champions!

I knew Hampton and Unaka had one didn't know about HV's. What classification were they then or did they even have classes yet?

Happy Valley also went undefeated when there were no classifications in 1950 and won the State Championship under John Treadway. So HV actually has 2 state titles. The 1974 HV state championship was when there was just 2 classifications, large schools and small schools. At the risk of sounding dumb, most people believe that the 1974 Hampton team was better than HV and might be the best team in Hampton's history. There was an article in the Star a while back (I think by Tim Chambers) called "First in the State, Second in the County" that talks about this. Hampton beat HV 3 times in the regular season. The only game Hampton lost that year was on the road to the Large School's #1 ranked team in the state Dobyns-Bennet. But when Vanhuss and the Indians travelled to Hampton, they were the ones who got the loss. #2 Hampton also played a game against Small School's #1 Rockwood and beat them by 18. But come tournament time, HV was beaten in the Districts 2nd Round by Chuckey Doak which placed them in the same side of the Regional bracket as the District Champion Bulldogs. HV and Hampton met for the 4th time in the Regional semi's and the rest is history. In the Star a couple of years ago when White retired the first time, he said his biggest win of his career was the 1974 game against Rockwood. When asked his biggest loss, he said the 1974 Regional Tournament game against Happy Valley...

It's just about peeking at the right time... When we won it in 2004 we lost a majority of our games towards the first of the season. Playing a very good strength of schedule against teams like Knox Catholic,Knox Bearden,Tennesee High and Science Hill and even Happy Valley had a very strong team as well.

We just hit a good stretch towards the end of the season winning like 12 games strait and luckily a good Greenfield and Christ Presbeterian team was knocked out early to give us some help in advancing to the state championship. The Temple game was a very tough matchup just for the fact we had already faced them once in the regular season and knew we would have our hands full. But coach Ensor and staff figured out a good game plan defensively running an "I zone" on their 3 key players and try to make their post players control the game and guard's force bad shots which we had them do towards the middle of the 3rd and early in the 4th.

But all in all we had alot of luck on our side down the stretch of those last 8 or 9 games. 3 or 4 of them coming off buzzards beaters. And the fact we just got hot at the right time and got a very good draw in the first round. We was very fortunate tho to be put in the position we was in like I said surviving all the scares we had down the stretch we stuck it out and things just fell into place at the right time.

Jump on in, it might be fun. Who knows we just might learn something. No need to apologize. I think old24, and LordIhatebeingaJrHighCoachvader were the ones that dragged the thread back out of the archives, well old24 just commented on the thread. Just like you and I. Oh yea, thanks for the spell check, and I'm not your partner.

Hey good friend. Good to finally hear from some of you eagle fans. How's the winter been treatin' ya! I'll be glad when football finally makes its way back around. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> You have to ignore the Ranger posters on here. Unaka wins a few games and they get on here and brag about how they are going to win the tournament. Unaka is a joke. They had a streak of good luck and home cooking on their home floor. Trust me, Unaka is not a good measuring stick to how good district 1 is. Cloudland and Hampton are the measuring sticks of all athletics and acedemics around here. The Creekers just have a Pabst problem. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Not what I've been reading.

How bout them Pirates are yall lining up for another championship run or will you guys actually have to rebuild a little this year?

ha ha yeah he really shut him down! he scored 31 on cosby... gosh but he shut him down alright... i gotta say thats some pretty good defense! 17 the first half and 14 the second half.... wow thats some AMAZING DEFENSE! and by the way i kno clinch isnt much but i guess thats y they are in district 2.... u can make excuses all day but the bottom line is north greene (who is last in district 1) has beat every single team that they have played from district 2.. even ur almighty eagles ha! end of story...... o yeah by the way lets see u dunk it or anybody on cosby for that matter ha ha ha ha

What happened bro. You guys were so much better than Cosby , we beat the Rangers twice.

And as far as dunking goes, a few years and pounds ago I could do it and Cosby has had a dunker or 2 on the team every year for the last 15 years and yes NG has been victimized by the dunk. I watched a game in 06 were you guys got dunked on 3 times in a 104 -50 loss to the Eagles.

KL says, we are just reloading. The Pirates lost many from last years team , but have just reloaded. Look for another run deep into the playoffs or onto the Boro. Glad to hear the Cosby boys are working hard.
