Part of the talent drop-off has been Rector's refusal to put together a freshman team. You just need an opportunity for the young guys to get their feet wet all together and assimilate into the school's culture as a unit. It is such a large jump from being a 15 year old stud to competing against 18 year old guys who've been pumpin weights and playing ball.

Maybe the new coach will see things differently.

And DAD1, you just need to move them into the house next to VY that you will buy for your daughter to insure they go to the right place!

Word on the street is that the infamous Coach Rector has left the Ravenwood Raptors football program high and dry in search of greener pastures as a "graduate assistant" at WKU. This happens on the eve of a season where Rector's Raptors were going to be the odds-on favorite in middle Tennessee. Coach Rector breaks ties a prominent powerhouse to go become a "GA" at a local lower tier college program?

I am not sure about everybody else, but this sounds funny to me. I am pretty sure that there are a few pieces missing to this puzzle. Does anyone have any more information about this sudden happening?

Also...Who steps up and fills Coach Rector's shoes? Who is willing to brave the mine-field that is RHS Athletics?

From someone inside a college program, this is a good move for Rector. Yes, the GA spot doesn't always seem like a glamorous job, but for anyone who is serious about coaching at the collegiate level, this is a great start. He'll get a good feel for the D1 level while working under and learning from a great coaching staff at WKU, and will also have a few Ravenwood alums playing for him there.

As we've seen at RHS, Rector is a bright young coach with an excellent feel for the game. I can tell that this is the start of a great future for Brian Rector

You can't be serious!

If anything, I have heard that he has picked a great time to leave Ravenwood due to the fact that the cupboard is somewhat bare compared to previous years there.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
