Lipscomb over CPA

Ezell over Hume Fogg /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Ezell could not match the agressive play of Hume-Fogg tonight. There was little fire in their game until it was simply too late.

It will be interesting to see what happens between Ezell and Lipscomb on Monday night.

The LipscombCPA game was a great matchup with both teams playing hard until the very end. Congratulations to both CPA and Hume-Fogg on their victories tonight.

Both games Thursday night should be very good. With healthy players the DL CPA game should be exciting to the end like the previous two contest. With Ezell at home and coming off of two good wins, they could definately upset HF. Play hard girls!

As you predicted, the CPA/DL game came down to the last seconds (as usual), with CPA coming out on top again. DL had this game, but too many turnovers.... Story of their season. It was still a good game considering the adversity DL has experienced with sickness the past few weeks.

Hume-Fogg really turned up their defense a notch on Ezell.

Ought to be good games on Monday and Tuesday. I predict Hume-Fogg may have CPA's number...

Good luck to all four teams in the region.

In order to make it to Sectionals (sub-state) - you have to come in first or second in the Regions. Let's face it - Marshall County is not someone you want to face in an elimination game. Assuming Marshall County wins their district, only the 1st place and 3rd place teams have a realistic shot of making it to Sectionals, since they will be in the opposite bracket from Marshall Co. The third place game means more this year than in past years.

It meant the same last year

People need to stop blaming DLs losses on sickness. Many people have said it was DL's best game yet against CPA when one of their starters was sick and hardly played. DL led for the majority of the game. DESPITE TURNOVERS!!!!! DL began to fall apart in the last minutes of the game due to our great press d and thurley's drives. The last play of the game: the score being tied. Cpa's boyd drove into the lane. keen helping off of a great shooter, #5 AN EIGHTH GRADER, allowing boyd to kick it out to her for the winning shot. MAYBE DL'S "BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER"(hssportsnut) SHOULD HAVE PLAYED BETTER DEFENSE AGAINST ONE OF OUR BEST SHOOTERS. DL lost a game that was hard fought from both sides.

DL struggled without Slater at point whether you saw it or not. She is the senior point guard, and it was obvious the offense was not flowing as well without her. You have not seen DL enough if you think this was one of their best games. Bridges was in foul trouble early and Slater was not in. That is two starters that did not play much not just one. Thurley drives to the left side every single time, and DL should have done a better job covering her. Ellenburg dominated the paint. No one could stop her. Once Mitchell (playing no post D) went through Ellenburg to get the ball and no foul was called. That was with about three min to go, and Ellenburg would have been at the line for one and one.(possibly putting the lead to 8) but instead CPA got a quick layup. Turnovers killed DL at the end. The last play DL switched defenses with a few seconds to go which threw the girls off. Keen pulled two charges and has kept some of the best players in the district to minimal points. DL had a foul to give and should have fouled Boyd before the kick out. It was a great game to watch.

Hope DL and CPA get to play again this season, always guaranteed to be worth the (steep, thanks TSSAA) price of admission. I think if these teams played 10 times they would split 5/5. If the illness defense is to be considered please note that Anna Mitchell couldn't even attend the Monday night game due to strep. Anyway, let the games continue. Hopefully both teams, along with HF and EH, will be in action for the next few weeks.

I think the "non starter" had 13 points - not bad...

Slater PLAYED a game with strep.

and agreed that Webb had a great game. She def stepped up where it was needed.

HF/CPA will be an intense matchup. HF is more athletic with better scoring ability but CPA plays better defense. The better offense against the better defense. It depends how well CPA contains Bagwell and whether CPA can produce points when HF makes turnovers. CPA and HF both depend on transition points so turnovers will be key. Good luck to both teams. Whoever gets second will give Marshall Co. a run for their money in the semis of region.

    • You defend your little buddy bsatt like it’s the end of the world just as much. Why don’t you go on to Upperman with him this summer… you know he is your “BEST MAN”.
    • No sir. Not staying at East. But definitely not going to Elizabethton.
