Clinton is stacked this year. Look for them in the state. They have two of the best guards I have seen at clinton in a while Jarel Beamon and Blake Sharp and they have Mykail Vibbert, Michael Freels, and Tevah Morris. This is one of the best teams i have seen since the last time they went to state.

Nobodys going to stop clinton this year and especially not OakRidge sorry but we got the best player to come out of there since Porter and thats Geoffrey Lee and u all know u get scared at the thought of playing Clinton. Im thinking that a maryville clinton matchup is what would prove clinton...

It will have to wait until the Region finals. Maryville was on the regular-season schedule but chickened out.

If you think OR is embarassed by losing to AC last Friday in FB, just wait until they get stomped on by Clinton this year. This will happen at least two times, but unless OR is better than I think, Clinton may never see them again. This will happen with Lee or not.

Let's all reflect back to last year when all we heard from Clinton, TN was how good they were gonna be and how they were going to state. Well, they beat OR 3 times and they won the district title(which interestingly enough was held at Clinton High School), but it gets better...i was more impressed at their talent and skills when they were put out of the first round of regions!

yeah they got put out in the first round because of an officials bad call at the end of the game. If the official didnt make such a bad call then they would have advanced.

No matter, they lost. It shouldn't have been so close. Clinton played a bad game. That was last year. It is a new year now.

Judging from these posts, Clinton sounds pretty confident, and rightfully so after winning 3 out of 3 last year. But from what I've heard, away from these message boards, is that Oak Ridge is very strong (or they will be once they get some academic trouble out of the way??) I had a post about a week ago about Kevin, #50 from O.R. From what I saw from him at the AAU state tournament earlier this summer, it looks like he can take over a game if his shot is falling. I don't know much about Clinton's personnel, being from Nashville and all, but I'd love to get a chance to see Clinton play. Do they have any games around the Nashville area? If so, when? Also, When are the tentative dates for the O.R./Clinton games? Also, GoMab's player rankings, shows Oak Ridge having some excellent young talent. Are these guys contributors on the Varsity level yet? What does Clinton's youth look like? Ah, so many questions....

Any info. is appreciated!! :)

    • Lee would have been a good choice, also.  I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
