NCAA conspiracy against Memphis?

A mid-major whose quality wins came against a 9 seed and a 4 seed.......

Personally I don't even think they were worthy of a 2, but that is how it goes.

I'm taking UConn in the bracket.

I would take them in the woman's bracket as well.

Who cares. Memphis is the best team in the state....HANDS DOWN...NOT EVEN CLOSE. If you want to talk about a team not deserving lets talk about UTLofton. Noway they should have made it...when was the last time UT got past the sweet 16? I know the answer...NEVER. The SEC was about as weak as I have EVER seen it this season. A winning conference record in the SEC is really not that big a deal. Memphis would have went undefeated in the the SEC...EASY. Sat what you want about Memphis (most of the people on the site HATE them anyway) but they make deep runs when they get to the tournement and UTLoftons biggest game of the season is in February...doesn;t say much for the program wheen the boggest game of the season is in February...Memphis will be fine no matter what people think....I'm pretty sure they could care less anyway. I'm sure they would be more than willing to join the lowly SEC but the mighty Vols, Rebles, and Razorbacks aint having that. If Memphis makes a move (and it could very well happen within the next three years) it will be in a real basketball conference......THE BIG EAST.

Wasn't one of those quality wins against the same Gonzaga (on there turf) that beat UT TWICE this season. I'm sure it was. Dind't Memphis pretty much destroy the Zags.

I would agree the win against the 9 seed was pretty much meaningless except it was a road win against a mediocre (at best) team. Road wins are allways good. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

BTW, look for Memphis top win 30+ again next season (for the 5th season in a row) Memphis may end up with the greatest recruiting class ever for any school next season.

If you are comparing yourself to UT this year to make yourself look better, then go ahead. It proves my original point all the more. UT didn't live up to expectations and by all standards was terrible. I doubt many will aruge that with you if they understand basketball at all.

Tiger High doesn't make it past the weekend. Personally, I don't see them beating Mizzu.

The UT win was meaningless because they were such a bad team. There is no comparison between Memphis and UT and anybody that actually thinks there is don't have a clue. Doesn't matter if Memphis wins or loses against Missouri or UCONN for that matter....to lose 3 players to the NBA and be in this position is a great accomplishment....33 and 3 doesn't happen by accident....and neither does 33, 33, and 38 the preovious thre seasons. Personally I think they will beat Missouri

UT didn't under achieve.....they were just not that good.

Tiger High will just keep winning there 30+games a season and continue to do what they have been. Doesn't really matter what anybody thinks anyway....does it? Not like anybody on here has the power to cast a spell on the program...not matter how much they would like to see them fail.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Like I said they will be fine....take that to the bank.

I will disagree that with the raw talent on the roster, UT under-achieved. I'd rather not be good than underachieve personally. UT missed Lofton's leadership and killer instinct.....to go with his shooting abilities. Raw talent wise, there is no reason UT should not have won 26-28 games and be playing right now, and I know several Tiger fans that agree with me.

I will say there is a bit of comparison also in that the record stands at 2-2 in last 4 years and each team is 1-1 at home and 1-1 on the road.

You are right regarding the wins though, it takes playing in a perennially terrible conference that guarantees 18-20 wins a year and an out of conference schedule that is typically laughable minus 2 or 3 games. That'll usually get a team rated just a bit higher than they deserve and get them a couple of easy wins in the tournament as well. Just a reminder, Tiger High has beaten exactly 2 teams from the "major" conference and they were a 9 and 10 seed. Gonzaga was a very nice win, no arguing that, but there's not much more there besides that.

Dismiss them all you want, I state simple facts. I'm very intreagued as to how the Tigers' guards handle Mizzu's full court press for 40 minutes. My take is the lack of competition they have faced will hurt them facing it.

Conference USA is alot better than people think. It's not the OVC. There is a reason the BCS schools wont play any mid majors on the road and eerybody knows the reason. BTW, Memphis is not considered a mid major either.

Memphis lost to Xavier, Georgetown, and Syracuse and was in every game and they beat UTLofton and Gonzage on the road and Maryland. Dismiss Memphis if you want I'm just stating the facts. BTW, look at the out of conference schedule over the last four season and you will see they play more than three tough teams each season......dissmiss the schedule all you want I'm just stating the facts. Seems like I heard this same arguments last season going into the tournement...wonder ig Michigas ST, Texas, UCLA and Kansas coaching stafFs bought into all that...I THINK NOT. I will be more than glad to post the out of confference/NCAA tourny schedule for the last 4 seasons plus some of the teams conf usa played as well. Dismiss Tiger high all anybody want to..the numbers don't lie. Thre is teams every season getting in the NCAA tournement from the power conferences that are undeserving...tehy get in just because of the conference they belong to...and most of those teams won't play ANYBODY out of conference on the road. I think Memphis beats Missouri but if they lose that's fine..they had a great season after losing thre players to the NBA. Memphis don't run from competition and would be more than willing to join the SEC or any other BCS conference. They are actively trying to schedule Duke and Louisville both next season in addition to UTLofton and Gonzage plue 4 or 5 more games woth teams from the BCS conferences. If Houston, Tulsa, UTEP, and UAB could get some home games with some of these schools the outcome of alot of these games would be different. This isn't rocket science. We all know why these teams wont travel out of conference. Tiger High will be just fine...trust me.

As to the argument that UTLofton underachieved. If one is to believe that one would have to place all the blane could on the head coach. Pearl is not a good coach. Basketball is a team sport...doesn't matter how much talent a team has if they can't play as a team. Getting talented players to play as a team is the coaches job. Pearl didn't get the job done....it's that simple. UT finished 21 and13 overall and 10 and 6 in the WEAKEST BCS conference (by far). Memphis would have absolutley dominated the SEC this season and probably would have run the table. Memphis don't lose games they arent supposed to,

    • Agree with most of this and add that it takes a "type A" personality to be successful as the top guy. Lots of folks are knowledgeable of the game, have the skills to co-ordinate scheduling, officials, duties, rosters, etc... What they lack is natural charisma and the innate ability to convince young men that they care for them, and what they're teaching them will make them successful if they contribute their effort. Football can be learned...leaders are born.
    • Understandable. I honestly couldn’t remember. When you lose your starting QB especially in high school it’s a big blow
    • Gotta keep it real here.  Nobody is twisting their arm making them coach football.  There are more high school football coaches around here than ever.  Schools that have the same enrollment today as they had 50 years ago have 5-6 coaches instead of two.  Every head coaching vacancy will get a flood of applications.  Well over 20 at West Carroll from what I read earlier in this thread.  There's more men getting into coaching each year than are getting out.  The fact is that there are far too many high school football coaches out there.  Like I said, just keeping it real.
    • Off the top of my head WV finished 3rd and RC finished 4th. I think both lost close games in the first round. Overall they were pretty evenly matched last year.
    • I’m gonna be tapped in for that Marion Co. game 🪶 🔥
