I'm told the main selling point was that Coach Cal will now have the opportunity to beat Sweathog two or more times in the same season. That in itself is enough to take the Kentucky job. Mark my words, Kentucky will absolutley dominate the SEC. Don't be suprised if one day Kentucky fields a team that will be considered possibly the greatest team ever. Wait and see. Nobody will outwork or out recruit this man.

Maybe true, maybe not. But what I do know is Memphis will slowly slide into another typical so-so mid major team.

Maybe true, maybe not. How could you possibly know that. Like I said the opportunity to take sweathog to the wood shed at least two times in one season is worth the move.

I know that as much as you know that Kentucky will beat Tennesee twice next year.

Memphis will slide into the trash heap of mid-majors without Cal, He is/was that good for Memphis.

With Evans declaring for the draft today and Witherspoon most likely transferring to UK and Xavier Henry most likely asking for his release out of his letter of intent and most likely going to Kansas to be with his mother...... I suspect John Wall and Demarcus Cousins will most likely be at UK next year..... Who will Memphis have left to carry the team?

Don't worry about him, he'll come out soon declaring he's been a lifelong Kentucky fan. Watching the Memphis State "fans" the past couple of days has provided much entertainment. The tem Memphis State is going to have next year will be lucky to finish in the top half of the A-Sun. Then again if I was a mid-major school pretending I wasn't I'd be devastated too.

Personaly, I'm glad he'll be at UK. I think they overpaid for him, but he'll be good for UK and for the conference. No doubt he'll win. Don't know if he'll reach Pitino levels in the 90s, but he'll win.....and all in all it's good for the SEC when UK is good. He brings another personality and with Grant at Alabama, the conference is going to have several teams that like to run and be up-tempo which is when the SEC is at its strongest.

Plus, Tennessee/Kentucky rivalry officially is at the same level again as when Mears was at Tennessee.

For you information I have stated on here on more tahn one occasion that I have been a life long Kentucky fan going back as far as Goose Givens and Kyle Macy. I suspect you know that to and are just acting this way because you are enjoying the fact that MEMPHIS lost there coach and the top recruiting class in the country....thats fine because it really doesn't matter what you or anybody else thinks....does it? memphis will rebound and contunue to be the top program in the State...maybe not next season but it will happen....WAIT AND SEE....You act like Cal leaving is equal to the death penalty...It's not. Life goes on, it's not the end of the word....not to me. You can have your slime ball sweathog coach and the Wildcats will take Caoch Cal and go to the promise land while UT continues to make those deep runs to the sweet 16 and the get beat. As far as the Kentucky/UT basketball rivalry goes....it's really not that much of a rivalry when the history is so lopsided.....at least not to Kentucky...maybe to UT. Kentucky/Louisville of Kentucky/Indiana is a rivalry...Not Kentucky/UT...that one is funny. I never see you promoting UT and your coach....why is that? I think I know, because there is to much negative information out there againt Sweathog in combination with the lack of success of the UT basketball program..unless you consider the weet 16 big time success. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> When you hang your hat on Sweathog as something to be proud of that speaks volumes.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I knew it. He's already put away all of his Memphis State blue and drug out the Kentucky blue.

Want yankees8589 to be your fan? Just be good. Boston in NBA? Steelers or Cowboys in NFL? Currently Steelers with Cowboy stuff waiting in the wings, right?

Are you positive you are not a Bama or Florida fan in college football too?

And please note - I said the UT/UK rivalry when Mears was here. I'm fully aware there hadn't been much to speak about UT/UK wise for the past 20-25 years, but UT/UK had a pretty good thing going in the late 60s and 70s.

You don't even know me...for your information I am a fan for the NewYork Yankees and St Louis Cardinals in MLB, The San Fransisco 49ers in the NFL, and the Bostson Celtics in the NBA...as far as college goes it's the UT Vols in FB, Memphis and Kentucky in basketball. BTW, I hate the cowboys.

If you or anybody else wants to match wits about the game of basketball i'm more than willing. Truse me I don't have to turn on sports center or search the internet to know what i'm talking about when it come to basketball like 99% of the people on here.

Want Solomon to be you fan? just be a good redneck and join the coacht fishing and hunting club and your in. Oh, forgot....you have to ride sweathogs jock as well.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Not really.

Not much of a hunter. Never liked fishing either. Prefer baseball and golf. And I was a UT fan (and grad) before Pearl got here.

Speaking of which, might want to call a couple of Memphis State major boosters and tell them why Pearl would be such a bad hire.....apparently a couple of them disagree.

Also, you are about the only person I've ever heard say Pearl is not a good coach.

    • Agree with most of this and add that it takes a "type A" personality to be successful as the top guy. Lots of folks are knowledgeable of the game, have the skills to co-ordinate scheduling, officials, duties, rosters, etc... What they lack is natural charisma and the innate ability to convince young men that they care for them, and what they're teaching them will make them successful if they contribute their effort. Football can be learned...leaders are born.
    • Understandable. I honestly couldn’t remember. When you lose your starting QB especially in high school it’s a big blow
    • Gotta keep it real here.  Nobody is twisting their arm making them coach football.  There are more high school football coaches around here than ever.  Schools that have the same enrollment today as they had 50 years ago have 5-6 coaches instead of two.  Every head coaching vacancy will get a flood of applications.  Well over 20 at West Carroll from what I read earlier in this thread.  There's more men getting into coaching each year than are getting out.  The fact is that there are far too many high school football coaches out there.  Like I said, just keeping it real.
    • Off the top of my head WV finished 3rd and RC finished 4th. I think both lost close games in the first round. Overall they were pretty evenly matched last year.
    • I’m gonna be tapped in for that Marion Co. game 🪶 🔥
