GreenGoat
At the last Claiborne County School Board meeting members decided to cut band out of their schools to save money. Read the article from the Claiborne Progress. http://www.claiborneprogress.net/pages/ful...&open=& School Board Members http://www.claibornecountyschools.com/board.html See where the money goes. Start on page 175 of the annual report. http://www.comptroller1.state.tn.us/reposi...8/claiborne.pdf A person??™s decision to move their family, business or company to the area might be determined by if there is band, chorus and music in the schools. Band and chorus gives kids an activity in a community that has little to offer. Money spent on keeping kids out of trouble is a lot less than keeping kids in the judicial system. A student??™s decision to stay in school and graduate might be determined by their participation in band, chorus, ROTC, drama, sports etc. How much is the district going to save if the drop-out rate rises? Endless testing is not an incentive for students to stay in school. Besides Band is fun!
