Many coaches do alot of different things to get their guys in shape for the upcoming season. I would like for you to list some things that have been beneficial to your program, or some things you just really like. (Example) cross-country, scrimmage(W/O coach), etc. I think preseason conditioning is very important, but you may not. If not explain, and why?

I do weights 3 days a week with running at the end of those days. And just strictly running 2 days a week. Ex: Monday, weights, then run 400yds in 90sec. 300yds in 75sec. 200yds in 35sec. 100yds in 15 sec. You rest time x 2 (90 x 2 = 180 (3minutes) I do alot of agility, speed endurance. Tues. 6-200yds in so many minutes, 30 yard squat jumps must get 30yds in 7 or 8 jumps, jump rope for 7 minutes. I have found this to be a very good workout in the past.

I think post players must lift year round because of the beating they take if they play hard. Guards need to lift only in the off season and do light lifting during seaon. Guards lots of reps less weight during season mostly for stamina and not bulk. Heavy weight is hard on the touch of the jumper during the season. I think a heavy diet of pushups and situps can be effective for guards during the season.
