Question for GOMAB

It seems that the only players you rate high and give time to on your board, is either from middle Tn. or have played for you on your AAU team. Some of the players you rate in the top will not be able to go on to the next level, because they have not taken care of the class room. Which falls back on their parents, coach and school guidance counselor. Others that you have rated high did not even start on their AAU teams during the summer but yet they are a top player to you on your board.I understand that you wont to help these young men move on to the next level, but if you only rate players with one eye open , thus not giving the whole state a fair shake. YOUR BOARD WILL NEVER ACQUIRE THE LEVEL THAT YOU WONT ex. Dave Telep

I have talked to a large number of people over the past months and alot of them feel the same way i do. When you started out Ithought this board was on the right track, but it has ended up a very one sided forum. I know this all takes time to do,but try and give every player a fair shake and do a little homework to see if the players you rank high can even go on to the next level.

:D

I WOULD NEVER LIST THE NAMES BECAUSE IT WOULD HURT THE KIDS

WHEN THE PROCESS IS OVER YOU WILL KNOW BECAUSE THEY WILL STILL BE IN TOWN. YOU CAN ASK HOW ARE YOUR GRADES AND EVERYONE SAYS I'M FINE. BUT THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE FINAL YEAR WHEN THEY DO NOT HAVE THE GPA IN THE CORE CLASSES TO GET INTO SCHOOL. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM EVERY WHERE NOT JUST IN THIS AREA OR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. IT HAPPENED IN THE CLASS OF 2002 AND IT IS ALSO PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE TOP PICKS IN THE NATION. BUT SOMEONE SOMEWHERE HAS TO START CARING AND MAKING SURE THE KIDS DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SO THEY CAN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND IN LIFE MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT.

KP......

I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from. I think my rankings are pretty acurate, as I have gained insight from many College Coaches. I'm not saying may rankings are perfect, but they do try to reflect the Ability to play at the next level. I also cannot comment much more if you can't even give me any names. If you would not like to do this publicly, please email me at Coachshul@comcast.net

Also KP.......

I agree that the academic problem is a big problem. It's tough to tell who to point the finger at, but it is definitely something that needs to be helped. Grades kept most of my best players from the Class of 2002 out of the D-1 ranks for another two years, but they are (for the most part) in great situations right now to further their education, and earn a chance to play D-1 ball in two years....

    • Began as a discussion, and evolved into a trainwreck...   Don't know how many of the TC "old guard" are left, but I feel for y'all.   Everybody has to get the last word... no matter the cost and sometimes the cost is high.
    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
