Unaka Baseball

It looks like Unaka Baseball is up and running for another Confrence, District, Regional, Sub-State Championship, and also a State Tournament trip. Returning almost all starters from the 2009 squad. Led by arguably two Division 1 prospects the Rangers look as they can't be stopped in their Leauge. Goodluck District 1 competing with those boys.

Good job on keeping friends in East Tn. Yes we know your good. Yes we know you have a good pitcher. And yes we know your predicted to win the district and if you win the district on not the region theb you are horrible as was proved last year. But why would you get on here in december and started bragging. I hope your a player and the coach finds out who you are. I know acey wouldn't tolerate much of that.

They should be pretty solid defensively with whoever they stick on the mound. they have 3 or 4 kids that can play different positions which will help us when those other 3 arent on the bump. I look for Unaka to be strong in the conference and can compete with alot of their teams they have scheduled out of conference. They got a good group of young players that can help out along with 5 or 6 starters returning.

But all in all they have a good group of kids that work hard and want to get better everyday. Good luck and have a great season.

Sounded confusing to me too. I think what he was trying to say is that District 2 is horrible and that was proved last year when both teams from district one advanced.

I have never heard of Unuka.

guess you havent been to the state tournament in the past half decade =], looks like Unaka gets an early start with baseball as the bball team went out to NG in the play in game, all the guys should be throwing by monday, not much else they can do field is soaked and girls team still uses the gym so cant put nets up.

How do you get that Unaka baseball is weak? They have to get there the same way every other team does.Our program just does it on a consistent basis. Sure the conference and region is a little down but you will have that from time to time it's just a cycle. But the main point is we get down there year after year and Coach Ensor's program is by far the most dominant program in the single A class in Upper East Tennessee year in and year out along with Rockwood.

Coach RC,

You definitely have established the Unaka program up on the mtn. Let me ask what this year looks like. I have enjoyed keeping up with 1A and 1AA the last few years. What does it look like this year?

My thoughts;

1. Without a doubt - Unaka - 7 returning starters? Lost one great bat and catcher and #2 pitcher

2. Whew - Hampton - graduated two picthers and maybe 1 other - Hits as wells as any of the other 3 teams. This may be there year to be a giant killer in Carter Co. especially after the tough loss last year.

3. University - I know this is a stretch but they played a lot of young guys that have a year of playing experience now. Should be tight with them and NG for 3rd.

4. NGHS - Graduated Hopson - will be interesting to see how they respond. - Transfer from CDHS Lady I think should help if he plays - Also heard he lost the Lucas kid to Sullivan South - Shelton keeps quiet but we all know he works hard. He graduated 4 or 5 last year. He's just down too far for 2nd again.

5. Cloudland - Their preseason work has been light due to the weather - Kendall is a great guy but the kids seem to focus on other sports at Cloudland. This may be his year to catch UH or NG sleeping one day and we could see them in 4th or maybe 3rd. But I think they are here again.

Let me know your thoughts? 2 weeks til opening day! What do the early season matchups look like?

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
