Guest WilcatPride
What do you think about schools that play players that are ineligible? Do people actually check this? It seems unfair to the athletes that do make the grades and are very responsible for making sure that they do what is necessary to be eligible and also for those coaches that try hard to motivate their players to understand the importance of good grades. Apparently there was a situation last year where a school was playing ineligible players and this was investigated by the TSSAA only to correct the problem "behind closed doors" and only ask that one of the two ineligible do not play any more and that the other had to turn in an ROTC uniform for a credit from the previous year in order to play. This was done in February when the most of the season was over. This took place in Chattanooga with a AA team that is a predominately black school and the name starts with an H (I figure you can figure it out without actually naming the school). What is there to do about this situation? Again, Who checks this and are these people held accountable?
redandblack63
If you are looking for help from the TSSAA don't hold your breath. Recuriting is out of control, players are changing schools and becoming eligible without a change of address, and volunteer coaches are not taking required classes and still being allowed to coach. The TSSAA is gun shy after the lawsuit regarding the Brentwood case. They are simply a figure head with no power or authority.

Guest bill69eller
The bad thing about the whole situation is that there were players on other surrounding teams that knew H***** had players on the team that were ineligible because they didn't go to summer school. Also, records were produced to the TSSAA from a former female guidance counselor that showed the players in question were completely ineligible. But when the TSSAA was shown school records, the school was fined for having terrible records because they looked like they had been changed. Duh!! I feel sorry for the honest kids that are deceived by sorry coaches that only want to get a high school championship of some sort out of these kids and never teach them about REAL LIFE and good morals and honesty. It's a shame that many good athletes end up riding on the back of a BFI truck the rest of their lives. But the same thing is happening with an ineligible girl at the same school. She is the score keeper for the volleyball team and as long as she keeps the score, her grades will be changed in time for basketball season. POOR KIDS! redandblack63
bill69eller: I agree 100%! Many High School coaches are using kids to boast their on egos. They are adopting a win at all cost mentality. When the players eligibility is used up the coach doesn't care. But when they are recurting the kid in the 8 th. grade they act like they are their best friend, tell the kid how they can get them a college schlorship, and that they will start as a freshman. This type of behavior is going unchecked by the TSSAA. Furthermore this type of behavior is a disgrace to all of the great coaches who are truly out there for the kids. These coaches are working hard to teach the kids the game, sportsmanship, values, and ethics. TSSAA GET CONTROL OF THE OUT OF CONTROL COACHES WHO WILL LIE, CHEAT, AND USE KIDS TO WIN GAMES!
