TD, thanks for the vote of confidence lol. Region duals will be hosted by the winner of tonights match between Morristown West and Jefferson County

MW, no disrespect intended. I was relaying information that I heard from another coach. I have not really kept up with the AAA schools this year since we got bumped down to A/AA. I had been told Jefferson County and I just assumed the match had already occurred.

Good luck to all four teams.

A/AA Regional Champions gets awarded to the team with the best record during the regular season.

So far this year, Sullivan East has beaten West Greene so they are in the driver's seat. SE will wrestle GHS and Happy Valley tonight so the picture will be a little clearer. If SE beats us, then they will be the A/AA region champs. Greeneville wrestles WG on Jan. 25, so if GHS beats SE, then the GHS/WG match becomes a little more important as it could set up a three-way tie for first. If WG beats Greeneville, they are still out because they lost the head-to-head with SE.

Basically, if SE wins out, they are going to state. Greeneville can still win it. West Greene needs help from Greeneville to win it.

Greeneville defeated Happy Valley 48-32 last night but we couldn't get by Sullivan East. The Patriots beat us 45-33. It was a great match and was wrestled with a lot of heart and grit by both sides.

We started at 125 and coming back around to 112, the match was tied at 33-33. Congrats to Gregory Whitaker on the pin at 112, that sealed up the A/AA regional championship for his team.

I am extremely proud of my young Greene Devils, those matches last night proved to me that you have the heart and guts to be wrestlers. We had our shot and that's all that you can ask for.

So, barring any surprises in the next few weeks, good luck to our friends at Sullivan East in Nashville. Make Region One proud.

Justin Anderson has done a great job with the wrestling program at Jeff Co. Hats off to the team Coach Hollingshead (IF WRONG NAME SORRY) find something to do besides wrestling nothing personal. Anderson works his butt off and gets no credit. Anderson is not going to say anything because he is that type of guy. He does it for the kids nothing else. What happened to Watkins was has he quit helping I saw him sitting in the stands, why was he not coaching? Good luck Patriots

    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
    • Well, your Big Western Hunt better turn up some Zebras to come graze on the Stones to make the jungle gametime ready again and make sure the plumber bros. still will come service the facilities at the Mecca. I hope your weekend is Fowl. Tell Rip hello from the Five Oh. Maybe the Gravedigger will catch a ride with Alphaniner on a flyover soon to BNA.
    • It’s not hearsay, just patently false. As one of those young coaches he apparently “ran off”, coach never once ridiculed or degraded anyone. Sure he challenged kids and coached them very hard,  but we have different definitions of you call that degrading. Coach Hammontree changed my life when he gave me the chance to work for him. I learned more about being a man and caring for the people around me in 4 years working for him than I did in 20 years of my life. No one sacrificed more than he did. I left Heritage because I felt there would never be the support necessary to help the program succeed. I’m tired of hearing people drag others down especially those they truly don’t know. Coach has moved on and a new coach is there. Just let the man live and root for the team.
    • Waiting on the Great One.   White Horse and Rip have a big weekend in the woods, and the Sheriff is working the overtime here.      Turkey season awaits…..Big Gobblers everywhere.
    • He won first at maryville so he did something right
