Sullivan South Rebels 2010

I feel it is time to move on. I have said my heart felt well wishings for Stacy and enjoyed his tenure. However, it is now time to bolster coach Sam Haynies position and give him the rock solid support that the Rebel Nation will unabashedly give him.

I will start off by declaring that the 2010 Rebels will not miss a beat. Everyone complains that Stacy left because of a drop in talent. Well not so for 2010. We may be relegated to a day care at some point in the future but 2010 holds another potential championship team. With a battle tested staff intact I see a packed house 6 times this season with some very exciting home games. The Rebel Nation is finished crying and are ready to offer support not seen many times in this state. We had more fans at Columbia than did Columbia albeit at 5 hours away. The current Rebels are not devistated with Carter's departure. Contrary, they are motivated to prove that the seed he planted is in rich soil. I (we all) see a more diversified campaign for the coming season and for one am excited for August to come.

I agree with you. South will simply re-load and not skip a beat. They may not make it to semi-finals this year but they should be in contention for the Conference championship. Sam has paid his dues, and I have know him for several years. He is really good with the kids, they like him and I believe they will lay it on the line for him. I wish Coach Haynie all the best.

Should be an interesting season for you all. Two games I know I will be pulling for South will be the Science Hill game and the DB game, you are on your own the rest.

I believe the DB game could be something different, since we will see a different coach and a different approach. As for the Science Hill game, I'd really like to see South take that one home, but that is later in the year for you all I believe.

South needs truly open competition for every position. I believe Haynie has mentioned this. They need the talent to change tactics mid-series or at least at the half of tough games. South needs coaches that know the competition inside and out and have a sound plan or two to compete in the big games. They have a chance to be every bit as good as some of the more prosperous years. My crystal ball also doesn't show any semi-finals this year.

I agree 100% jhilts. Haynie is a good man and will treat the kids fairly. Young Wooten does a good job calling plays and I hope he will be used more this next year. I'd limit Jordan's input. As somebody else said, he had a cakewalk at CH Middle. Players sometime make the coach, not the other way around. Go REBS! ;)

BlackJack, maybe you know maybe you don't. But there was a lot of animosity between HJ and SC. They were brother-in-laws at one time. And if I'm not mistaken Stacy was coached by Hunters father Greg at South. So Stacy couldn't just run away from that. Greg wanted to be on Stacy's staff at South and that was not going to happen even though Greg coached the Frosh one year I just don't remember when...I think it was 2004. At any rate, that time frame made Hunter look bad. It didn't help when he bailed out and went to Danny Boone as OC for one season. Stacy never spoke positively about Hunter and the friction was evident. When Stacy told him to come back it was his attempt to settle the dust. Many speak of Hunter as a ship jumper but the 2004-2009 Rebels knew first hand how good a coach he was at CHMS. Without the past family thing to throw a stick in the spokes things will be different. Sam Haynie knows that Hunter has skills. And left alone with the responsibility of being the OC he will perform just fine. Football is more time consuming than any other sport for the coaches and it's tough being a parent and a husband while spending 12 hours a day at the field. And yes, Hunters wife would rather he pursue a different career...especially if he is not going to be an intergal part of the mackine. But it is in his blood and he will give these boys his best. I have personal experience with him and it was nothing but positive. So I am an advocate. I do sympathise with your view for I know others who feel similarly. I just hope that by August we are all on the same page.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
