Taunting-Red Card?

I felt terrible for the player that got carded for clapping--even more so for the original red to my son, which we thought was undeserved (of course!!).

So if I am interpreting the rule correctly (and I'm fairly sure that I am), if a player makes a racist comment or insult on the field they should be ejected? I really wish refs enforced this rule because insults of this nature are ignorant and inexcusable. Over the course of this season I have heard far too many (majority of the games this year) racist remarks from not only players, but also from some very prominent coaches. As the adults in the situation, it is the officials' and coaches' responsiblity to swiftly curtail and correct this problem.

 

I agree completely, games are getting way out of hand. Refs should be more decisive in their calls. Two games I would like to note as getting out of hand include Oak Ridge at Farragut and Bearden at Farragut. Lots of words said with no punishment.
