Has anyone heard of the new Coach At ACHS? I honestly hope they do not hire as we did from within our parents. We were told that Knox co wouldnt be able to justifly hiring from outside the system. I know I have stirred the pot here but At interest is the girls who all work so hard. I heard this morning that someone is being considered for the job at ACHS. However they had to work on bringing someone in from outside the system while letting teachers go across the county. I heard also this may be a issue and some teachers are not happy about losing their jobs while bring in a volleyball coach from the outside. If this is true this could become a mess, I hope it doesnt take away from this upcoming season . Again My heart is in the Lady Admirals but also with all the young ladies who work so hard.

James your right as a coach you handle it, As the coach she did! But the Principle decided he knew better and turned on the coach. As he knows he did! And the AD was probably not even aware of this mess until the day of the coach quitting. Afterall he is just the AD. She without a doubt couldnt support that decision and called it quits. As anyone with any common sense would do or any heart. This will be a fun year in the stands at ACHS. Bet security will love it! Wished I was there! All I am doing is reporting what is being said out in the coaching ranks and volleyball community. All I hear is call the school and set up a meeting with these folks, WHY? This concerns me not! All I am doing is stating the facts as I hear. Besides I am laughing at the mess made by such SMART PEOPLE! yea right! haha GO ADMIRALS!!

Right, You handle it like an adult, like the principal obviously did. Not like the parents, coaches, and politicians obviously did not. Sounds like they jumped the gun without thinking of the consequences. The principal acted in best interest of the kid and saying he turned on the coach is just stirring things up without facts. You said "you are stating facts you hear and reporting what is being said out there". Sounds like you want to repeat what one person says and call it fact when you are saying the facts you have heard on here from people that were there are false. You probably gossip about alot of things don't you? You have bought a lie and used this platform to spread it further. stupid is as stupid does!!!

James, Everyone knows that the principle was in agreement with the coach until the pressure was applied from outside. If coaches cant make decisions about players then why have coaches? Let the Principles decide about the school teams. However, What is done is done! All I was doing was saying what is known by most people in the volleyball community. Good luck everyone!

Oskie, As I Have said it was a couple of local elected officials, Anderson co is well known for its good ole boy network! I just heard from a Oak Ridge parent this morning about the situation in Oak Ridge who was there at the district tournment last year. It was very hurtful to the entire tournment and was a real show I heard. I heard that some of the officials have said they will not call any ACHS games this year because of it. Also word has it that the Oak Ridge coach from last year may be the next coach at ACHS. It is intresting also that she had ask to be with her kids this coming year more. I commend her for wanting to spend more time with her children but cant blame her for thinking about this job. I also heard that both ADS jobs in Anderson co schools may be cut this year. The thinking is that the asst. principles cant handle the jobs at ACHS AND CHS. ANY truth to these rumors from Anderson co? Good Luck to the girls at ACHS and I honestly hope they can move forward, if only the adults would remove themselves for just a few and enjoy the moments with them.

AC announced this afternnoon the hiring of former Mav and OR coach Jayme Smith as the new head volleyball coach. I think this is a great hire. A proven winner coming to the best volleyball program in the state. AC will not miss a beat, an already great program only gets better.

Arghhh!!!!

This stinks. It IS a great hire. Coach Smith is a fantastic coach, and she bleeds AC blue. The ONLY gripe that was had at Oak Ridge was she was such an AC disciple. She was a big time player at AC, coached at AC, and lives near the school. She won 7 straight against AC and 6 out of 8 against Karns.

OR is a girls basketball and soccer school first so she always had to take second pick of the athletes. With her intensity, and x&o skills, and AC's talent and program this is a perfect fit.

AC is a VOLLEYBALL school. They support this program like mad, and how smart was it to stay within the AC family.

Coach Smith is a take no whining type of coach. She will expect a state championship now.

She will also quiet the grumblers because she is part of the AC coaching tree. They are loyal to each other. Coach Wade played for her and Coach Cantrell when Harshbarger was head coach, and they are all extremely close. This is a sign of support for the AC system and is a deadly blow to Karns which was trying to establish itself. (Hate to admit it but it hurts OR too, which was trying to get out of AC's shadow). AC is the best volleyball program in east TN for a reason. They take it seriously.

Moves like this is how you keep a top program. Should be a lesson on how to hire a volleyball coach, and shows how big this job is. :D

OR will just have to work a little bit harder, but the loud sound of air you hear escaping from the balloon is Karns bubble busting. Coach Smith owned Karns for 10 years, and AC has the athletes to win right now.

Do Mavericks eat Beavers :flower:

Cats do :?

Congrats to Jayme Smith and Anderson County. Anderson County has done it again and AA is again back in East Tennessee. It does take athletes to make a program and without them, no matter the coach, a program will flounder. I may be terrifically wrong in the comparison but even OR could not fight that battle in the area. Fans sometimes fret over recruiting and transferring of players between schools and overlook the greatest competition in the human resource end that coaches have to face and thats the competition that high school volleyball coaches have for athletes in the feeder schools and within their own 4 walls. Coaches that can do that, in any sport, will be successful. You can praise JS as much as you like for x and o's but the facts are the connections she has to the elementary school, middle school and high school parents and the reputation she has built at AC far exceeds anything in the x and o area. She has an inside track for finding athletes. If you look across the State, it is the same method used by many successful coaches. And I can see whats happened here. The opening happened and it is true, a huge title wave of supporters rose up and it didn't take much.

JS was not as successful at OR and looking in from the outside, OR did not have as many athletes in their program. They had good players, no doubt, but they did't have as many athletes. Such is the difference I have seen between the programs of AC and OR. Good luck to JS,

THIS IS GONNA BE A FUN SEASON. ALL THE COACHING CHANGES HAVE REALLY STIRRED UP SOME COMPETITION AND CONTRAVERSY. I LOVE IT!!! COME ON; DUKE IT OUT ON THIS BOARD ALL YOU WANT- BUT IT WILL BE THE PLAYERS THAT PROVE YOU ALL CRAZY. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT IS REALLY GONNA HAPPEN THIS YEAR. THIS WILL GET MESSY: BEAVERS, MAVS AND CATS OH MY.. WE BETTER SEE PLENTY OF "BUTTS IN THE SEATS" COME GAME TIME.

The gap between Anderson County and the rest of the pack just got wider. OR (contrary to Orcats "wishing") will not be in the mix. CF is an average club coach, with no real coaching experience. Coach Smith and Coach Cantrell at AC and Coach Jones at KC are levels above. Karns has the most senior talent and if they in fact have a libero transfer and are getting a hitter, then they should be the team to beat.

I like their old Libero, and was surprised that they recruited a new one so hard. Same with the setter and hitter. I was at the Region last year and the setter had a great tournament. Why change her? It seems that there may be some ego with the 2 middles. It is hard to win with middles. I think they try and go to the middle way too much, and should use the hitters more. This is the problem when you recruit players, you have to make them promises in order to keep them. Not a fan of the star system or just cutting a senior libero lose?

Karns and AC will be the 2 top team this year with Catholic a close 3rd. and that is the K2ruth

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
