It's obvious to me that there are a lot of people in Macon County in the stands on Friday nights who get their way too often as far as it relates to making executive decisions regarding head football coaches. Over the years on here there has been more coach bashing from Macon County fans than any other team I can think of (and it's not even close). Even when Dyer took them to the state semifinals back in 2003 he wasn't too popular among the people. Cook was never given a chance as head coach. He was thrown under the bus by fans even when he took the Tigers to the playoffs in his first season as head coach. Goolsby took over a total rebuilding project and results did not come right away. I will say in his defense that the team did seem to always play hard by judging the scores of Macon's games. The fans grew impatient once again and now a guy has been ousted before he was ever truly given a chance to start something. I have recently spoken to a past Macon County football coach myself just to try to figure out what is the problem with people down there. He came right out and told me that it's a nightmare for coaches. This guy has gone on to have success as a head coach at 2 different schools since leaving MCHS.

Good Luck Chad Watson...............you're going to need it :roflol:

The way I hear it he is out. Had something to do with texting a student. Also, heard the text was not pornographic in nature or in anyway out of line. But, somehow and I don't know how but someone found out about it and he resigned. But, that being said...you people on here that keep bashing Macon County people can kiss my butt...,.I'm one of the people who pay to see the games and I don't even have a kid playing. And, I've not had anything to do with ever removing a coach. The problem with Macon County is that there are a handful of people who control our school system from top to bottom. And, they run it...short of running for school board member and making everyone in Macon County hate me what can the regular person do to stop it?...if anyone on here has anything constructive to say then by all means let me know!!!!

There was no text, just an overblown rumor that gave the administration the go ahead to oust another coach they didn't like. Macon is turning into a coaching graveyard like Warren County has been for some time. Perhaps new coaches in both places will pull the players, fans and coaches out of the misery they've endured at the hands of the 'good 'ole boys'.

If you know for a fact exactly who is behind this then by all means please tell us. I for one would like to know who in Macon County has this much power. And, why if he's just been accoused wouldn't he fight it?...the only way for this to stop is to let the decent folks know who's behind it so it can be stopped the next time!!!!!

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
