The godfather of CSAS tennis finally has his region championship.

Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences coach Jerry Pate watched with satisfaction as his players defeated Collegedale, 4-0, Friday to claim the D-I A/AA Region 3 Boys’ title; the first region crown in school history.

“It’s great for these guys to win the region, but we have to stay focused as we prepare for next week’s sub-state match,’’ said Pate who started the school’s tennis program in the spring of 1990.

Playing on their home courts at Warner Park, the undefeated Patriots (13-0) clinched the match with singles wins from Jackson Lenoir, Andrew Ball, Brian Wright and Alex Evers.

Jordan Evans of Collegedale led Ian Derthick, 6-1, 5-4 at No. 2 doubles when Ball’s win at No. 3 singles clinched the team victory

“We set this (region title) as our goal at the start of the season and all our hard work has paid off,’’ said Lenoir.

CSAS will put its undefeated season on the line next week against the Region 4 Notre Dame-Friendship Christian match. The winner of that sub-state match advances to the final four at Spring Fling XVIII, May 25-26 in Murfreesboro>??????

The Patriot’s last loss was to Notre Dame in last year’s region final.

District Champs: Collegedale is District 5 champs and has won district titles five of the last seven years, while CSAS is District 6 champs.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
