What a difference a week makes for Webb... last night Webb completely dominated the #1 ranked 5A school in the state.

The Spartans were very impressive in their blowout 33-7 win over Knoxville Catholic. This team must have had a great week of practice and were understandably peaking ahead a bit last week when they played FRA because the team I saw last night was just clicking on all cylinders. Great job by all the players and coaches!

Now that Webb has defeated it's bitter rival, they can now focus on finishing the season and realizing their ultimate goal of winning a back-to-back state championships.

I'm really looking forward to DA coming over to Knoxville. It should be a great game and atmosphere.

I hated the fact that the Williams kid was injured last season and wasn't able to play against Webb. Hopefully he'll remain healthy so I can watch him play against Webb. I've never seen him play but I've heard he's a special talent for sure. Of course I hope he doesn't have too good of a game against the Spartans. :thumb:

I'm curious, Webb is always talking about how fast they are. How fast are your kids really? Don't tell me 4.4 because I won't believe it. I'm a Davidson fan, but I'm a realist. Our fastest player on his best day runs a high, high 4.5, legit. On his best day. Just wondering, but please don't waste my time with silly answers, or I'll have to show you NFL combine times just to affirm how ridiculous it is to say you have guys running faster than starting NFL running backs.

I'm pretty sure all of their RBs run legit mid to low 4.5s. Somebody may say otherwise but I agree with you, kids who can run 4.4 are very rare. I've been to camps and combines where the athletes who participate are probably the best skill players on their respective teams and you may have a couple out of a hundred who can run 4.4 something. Beyond that, Webb probably have a couple in the mid-4.6s. I don't know times but I'm basing this on an educated guess and past experience. More impressive from their RBs would be their short shuttle (Pro Agility) or L-Drill (3 Cone Drill) times. All 3 of them are very quick laterally with stops and starts.

Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
