I believe Volunteer will be much improved this season. Elizabethton lost a lot of playmakers from last year, but I'm sure coach Witten will have his players ready for this game. Should be a good one.

Shawn has betsy looking good and i exspect another great year from the cyclones.RTD

they are looking pretty good, its still early tho. i dont see the vol game being a blow out i think it will a very close game coming down who is better conditioned in the 4th.

It's hard to tell from one scrimmage, but I like what I have seen so far. In the first one Volunteer's offense looked good at times. The Defense looked good the whole scrimmage. I think Volunteer's D could be pretty good this year, but like I said before it was just one scrimmage. Volunteer has the talent to be competitive the next two or three years.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as it stands OL/DL players Frank Mutter and Patrick Cox are the only returning starters? Not sure how lopsided it will be, but I see the potential there. You can't expect fresh to know exactly what their doing after only 1 scrimmage before a Friday night game. Witten plays for an overall game, he doesn't expect his players to stand on the sidelines until their senior year to see play action. He uses his players to make a team, make plays and participate in games unlike Rider.

Anticipation to see Rogers speed this year. If he decides to play for a full season, unlike last.

Jack Crowe really stepped into his cleats last year and made some surprising plays for the Falcons.

Heath Allen was able to see some playing time last year in a few games.

Waited through an entirely dreadful season last year in order to see Harris as QB this year.

Volunteer is severely lacking in overall size compared to their competition. Other than Mutter, Cox, Lawson and Lumpkins, no one comes close to the sizes their competition will be.

    • Maybe some of the historians can get on here and help me out, but has anybody from Tennessee ever had as much success in an international style as Boykin? The only other Tennessee native I can remember competing for world team spots is the older Boykin in freestyle and he wasn't nearly as close as Nick has been to making world teams.
    • Whoever gets the job will have some opportunities to compete year end and year out. The sophomore class has some talent and the middle school has some good athletes coming thru. If the right coach comes thru he can build a winning program.
