Of course, I am voting for OAKLAND!

We have a seasoned group of seniors who are determined to start out 1-0 this year. The game last yr was a close one and left a bad tate in our mouths. We used it to our advantage though. Ensworth doesn't have Darkwa anymore either. So sorry Tim McGraw, you are going to be mighty disappointed this time round.

man oh man, you have just made my day, Cat. You have been sorely missed on the T. So who are you for? Dawgs or Blaze these days?

Game day Oakland. Bring it often and bring it hard , boys! Time to get revenge. Rely on your senior leadership to get the win tonight. The crowds will be full of folk screaming your name. Make them, your coaches, and parents proud. But most of all do it for your brothers on the field.

That day is finally here. The day that you have been counting down to since the end of last season, since the beginning of practice with pads and since that final scrimmage. For the rest of Tennessee today, the 2010 season kicks off, and for Oakland, its starts off with a bang, playing state power Ensworth. Ensworth comes into this game a little thin in the offensive backfield, with Nantambu Fentress getting the nod at tailback. What Ensworth lacks in overall depth, they may more that make up for on the right side of the offensive line in a pair of 300 pounders in Antonio Richardson ( Widely regarded as the top recruit in the state of tennessee) and Keenan Crenshaw. Murfreesboro Resident Corneilius Elder figures to get some snaps at Tailback and Quarterback as well.

Not a whole lot is known about Ensworth on defense except that they have been pretty suspect against the pass up to this point in their scrimmages; here is hoping that QB Christian Adams and the offense can take advantage of that. Also worth noting tonight is the chess match bewteen coaching staffs. One could argue that Ensworth and Oakland possess 2 of the better coaching staffs not only in middle tennessee, but in the whole state. Ensworth will throw in a wrinkle or 2 that Oakland hasnt seen on tape and vice-versa. With that said here are my 3 keys for an Oakland victory tonight:

1. Dominate the point of attack: This is so crucial for Oakland, especially on the defensive side of the ball with their revamped defensive line. Ensworth will try to pound it down the right side all night long and early on, they will probably be successful. Oakland has to find creative ways tgo get into backfield and keep Ensworth from running it down their throats all night long; if not penetration by the d-line, maybe some well-timed blitzes from the linebacking corps or the secondary.

2. Mix It Up: Oakland's new found balance on offense should work wonder in this game and neutralize the massive presence Ensworth has on their line. Oakland returns a good chunk of their offensive line that led them to 10 wins last year, so this is not as much of a worry as it would be on the defensive side of the ball. I really think that if Oakland can speed up the tempo of this game, in essence, make it a track meet, that Ensworth would really be hard pressed to keep up, both on their depth chart and on the scoreboard.

3. Secondary Play: With the threat of Ensworth pounding the ball all night also comes with the threat of the play-action pass. Oakland's secondary has been really stout up to this point and is going to need to be on top of its game tonight.

Final Thoughts: With the modified playoff system, winning every non-district game is very key to success. But you dont have to sell that as motivation to the Patriots; they remember the sting of defeat they suffered at the hands of Ensworth last year and will be looking to exact revenge. It is always a big deal when one of the state's top programs matches up against one the Division II's best, and the matchup should dissapoint. I look for Ensworth to pull ahead early, but for Oakland to pull away late with the their balanced offense and depth at all position of the field.
