East Tennessee High School Volleyball

Christian Academy of Knoxville has been a huge surprise this year. They have a new coach in Jamie Petrik that has taken a team that was a laughing stock last year and turned them into a contender. They split with Farragut, Bearden and William Blount and crushed Catholic. They are a super young team. They have an 8th grade Libero Taylor Call who seems to be getting better. Their starting setter, Lauren Peterson, is also an 8th grader, is undoubtedly all-state caliber. Look for this kid to be big time Division I prospect in years to come. They also have freshman Maggie Morgan who is tremendous middle and outside. Sophomore Holly Staab is back from early season injury and playing well. This looks to be a team that will dominate east Tennessee high school volleyball for years to come. Say what you want about Karns and Anderson County, it looks like CAK will be bringing home a few state championships in years to come.

ORCAT,

Your unrealistic expectations for Oak Ridge are understandable, but your anti-Karns, anti-AC, anti-Catholic, anti-Farragut, anti-K2, and now anti-CAK venom is really over the top.

In the spirit of polite discourse for a sport of young girls, do you think you might tone it down a bit so the young ladies might have a better example of how grown women should behave?

CAK is competing very well in the AA high school classification with a roster full of 13, 14 and 15 year old girls. If they continue their progress, they may very well compete for a state championship in the near future. If not, I know that they will develop positive values like teamwork, committment, and good sportsmanship that contribute to the rest of their lives.

I hope that, you too, are striving to teach those around you, in a way thet benefits their lives.

All of this doesn't surprise this poster b/c as fast as the sport is growing wnd with teaching techniques, 3 years of concentrated interest by players and parents will take a school quite a way and 4/5 might take them further. Dreams sometimes happen.
