Congratulations to the following schools as 2010 NSCAA Academic Award Winners!

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA and then dividing by the number of players.

The following Tennessee schools are double honorees as BOTH boys & girls programs are receiving honors:

The Baylor School, Chattanooga

Blackman, Murfreesboro

Siegel, Murfreesboro

Smyrna, Smyrna

The following Tennessee girls teams are receiving honors:

The Baylor School, 3.57, Chattanooga

Blackman, 3.97. Murfreesboro

Hendersonville High, 3.28, Hendersonville

Hutchison High School, 4.36, Memphis

Independence High, 3.62, Thompson's Station

Siegel, 3.48, Murfreesboro

Smyrna, 3.58, Smyrna

USJ, 3.43, Jackson

6th highest in the country!

3rd consecutive year for Hutchison as well.

Congrats to everyone who made it.

Congrat indeed. The group is all ears to learn how one can achieve a score greater than 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. As an insider to Hutch, perhaps you can share the math for everyone to understand?

I am not sure how many private schools use the same system as Hutchison, but I would suspect that St. Mary's and at least a few others do as well. I believe in a public school you can earn beyond a 4.0 by way of Honors and AP classes. An A in one of these courses is weighted more heavily than an A in the regular version of that course. Basically, the harder the course, the more you are rewarded for taking the more challenging course work. I think the increased reward is only factored in if you make an A,B, or C.

Some of the school's do not have "regular" courses per say. The lowest form they offer is the equivalent (or sometimes) greater than the honors courses at some of the public (and probably a few of the other private schools as well) schools. Beyond that they have Advanced Honors or AP (not all courses have an AP level) which are of course the most challenging courses.

Maybe a typo on the middle girl.

There's a Hershey HS in Pennsylvannia; not Knoxville, TN.

Too funny.....yes, and no

Yes, she was an All-American, likely last year....from Hershey High in PA.

She now plays in TN @ the Univ of Tenn.

BigG, sorry, there is not a Kit-Kat High in Knoxville either.
