District 9-A

13 seniors on a 1a baseball team??!!! NEVER heard of that. How many kids on the team, total? Gonna leave the well awful dry in years to come!

 

Yep, there were 35 kids on the team this past season, up from 27 the year before. Some of it has to do with them winning but actually most of them have been with the team since freshman year. They do have 3 players that did transfer and gave up all but the very end of their junior year on varsity. They became eligible for varsity in May. Most likely excluding injuries or some unexpected reason there will be 8 senior starters and 1 junior starter next year. They lost 5 seniors this year. They will have a decent sized junior class next year. The biggest challenge will be pitching after next year. They do have some promising looking kids coming into their freshman year that will include a couple of pitchers. Much like Cascade has developed a winning tradition and draws players, I think Eagleville is and will do the same. At the single A level it's almost vital to be able to do that. I really believe District 9 may be the toughest top to bottom in the State for Single A and looks to be getting tougher as Community is developing some players. Just heard they had a coaching change, that could be interesting.
