I do not believe this at all.

Taco enough. Go to your Centennial/Independence threads and leave us alone until we meet in two weeks. Man, I can't wait for the Rebels to run all over the cougars. TACO, you make me sick.

My magic jumping beans have revealed all. CC is done after this season. Hey I am trying to help you out and keep him around. Maybe he will see this and will stay to prove me wrong.

He's let it slip to some on his staff. Sorry guys, the captain is getting off the sinking ship.

You clearly haven't seen the freshman football team for Franklin play, they have a lot of phenomenal athletes, including their quarterback.

Didnt the Centennial freshman team go undefeated, or close to it, three years ago? I think they won the freshman league at least, but I may be wrong. Point is...they are freshman. What 14 and 15 year olds do doesnt always translate to varsity successs. It wont at FHS either.

Agree! But my question is why did we not show up in the first half? Why have we been struggling on offense when we have a QB like we have? The answer is young off. linemen and WR that DROP the ball!!!!!!!!

If,If,If, Had, Had, Had - Lets face the facts. Brentwood jamboreed Siegel the other night and my impression was that Siegel was nothing spectacular. They also moved the ball through the air pretty easily against the Bruins. Brentwood played a very weak Cookeville Team and looked o.k. but nothing spectacular. Sounds like Franklin has a really solid QB and a bunch of youngsters. I think it is going to be ugly in District 11 this year. And yes Coach Clayton does see the writing on the wall. He has said it publicly in the past.

P.S. - The Bruins have a probably very "perturbed" Smyrna next Friday. Might be ugly!

Yeah the centennial freshman team did...but their "freshman" team also played sophomores in juniors in the majority of their games, so it doesn't really count as being an undefeated FRESHMAN team. It was more of a partial JV team that beat all the freshman teams they played

Freshmen stuff doesn't mean squat but I can tell you that Centennial made that undefeated run with an ALL freshmen squad. The only reason I recall is because that team was dubbed "The Dirty Dozen and a half plus two". There were only 20 kids total. I didn't see all the games from the stands but was there to watch them against Brentwood and Franklin. The key was the QB scrambling to either take off running or dump off to short routes. No one could catch the kid. Some of those guys are still with the team as seniors now. We'll see if anything translates over to varsity success.

Them having 20 people is why they played sophomores and juniors in some of their games. I only know that they played sophomores and 2 juniors in both the Franklin and Brentwood games because those are the only two that I payed attention to, I can't say for sure if they played them in other freshman games. But I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

I was at both games and recall freshmen wearing varsity player's numbers. At first sight it may have appeared upper classmen were playing but by that Friday you could tell there were different bodies in those certain numbered jerseys. I remembered checking the roster because I only saw twenty players on the field. I don't want to argue it any longer but Centennial beat us fair and square. Our boys will get the last laugh though. :roflolk:

I saw the Centennial freshmen team play that year and I can assure you they had more than 20 players...

And that brings it back to the point I was making about 20 posts ago to another poster talking about how good they think FHS's freshman team is; it really doesnt matter. If they cant do it in a varsity game, it doesnt matter, and in another year, FHS will be in serious rebuilding mode...with a new head coach to boot.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out. Not good to go to the grave with that in your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
    • Well, your Big Western Hunt better turn up some Zebras to come graze on the Stones to make the jungle gametime ready again and make sure the plumber bros. still will come service the facilities at the Mecca. I hope your weekend is Fowl. Tell Rip hello from the Five Oh. Maybe the Gravedigger will catch a ride with Alphaniner on a flyover soon to BNA.
    • It’s not hearsay, just patently false. As one of those young coaches he apparently “ran off”, coach never once ridiculed or degraded anyone. Sure he challenged kids and coached them very hard,  but we have different definitions of you call that degrading. Coach Hammontree changed my life when he gave me the chance to work for him. I learned more about being a man and caring for the people around me in 4 years working for him than I did in 20 years of my life. No one sacrificed more than he did. I left Heritage because I felt there would never be the support necessary to help the program succeed. I’m tired of hearing people drag others down especially those they truly don’t know. Coach has moved on and a new coach is there. Just let the man live and root for the team.
