coachjohnson
WHo are SD's 3 losses to in the Chattanooga list? The losses were to Baylor, in a best of 3 match. Soddy was ahead 13-0 in the first set, and won big. Soddy had an injury early in the second set and found a way to loose, 1-2. The next time Soddy played Baylor, Soddy won 3-1. Soddy won the Tandem Tournament, but dropped matches to Ooltewah and and GPS. Both matches saw Soddy take the first set, before dropping both by 1-2 scores. Soddy has beaten Ooltewah 3 times, 3-1, 3-0, and 3-2. Soddy beat GPS 3-0 the next time they played.
coachjohnson
That is very good and i am familiar with a lot of these and I know you've played in the Nashville area and are formidable in your play, I watched you last year at State and this year in the BIVT i think and was impressed. the BIVT was a two game venue and I would not tell you my thought on a comparison between Soddy and the top tier schools In MT but Unless you can beat Ravenwood, Indy, Houston, collierville, Sullican South, Siegel consistantly, in a five game, you will likely wind up about 4 or 5th in the State tournament. Your statement of Nearly anything can happen in the State is correct as you know. it takes a lot of Luck and endurance. From the stats I've seen, these are the overall records and records against the "so-called" top 10 teams in Chattanooga. Don't get me wrong, this could be the top 10 in Chattanooga. Not everyone will agree with the order or the selections. Feel free to post updated records, along with records against these teams. 1. Soddy-Daisy: 49-9 (17-3) 2. Baylor: 27-12 (9-5) 3. Red Bank: 33-15 4. Ooltewah: 40-16 5. Notre Dame 6. GPS: 35-17 (10-8) 7. East Hamilton: 30-9 (3-9) 8. Signal Mt: 32-20 9. Walker Valley 10. chattdaddy
It is crunch time and I think SD is deep, and GPS is athletic. SD is 2-1 against Baylor and GPS and SD are 1-1 against each other and GPS is 2-1 against Baylor. So I could go either way with Soddy and GPS. I think the teams are really tough in AAA with Ravenwood. So I think GPS, Baylor, Sale Creek, and Signal Mt are the schools with the best chance for bring something home from the boro. I pull for all Chattanooga teams, but like GPS since he is the only Male coach in the group at a all girl school. 1. Soddy-Daisy: 2. GPS: 3. Baylor 4. Ooltewah: 5. Signal 6. East Hamilton 7. Sale Creek 8. Red Bank 9. Notre Dame East Hamilton beat Red Bank tonight & Sale Creek Beat Boyd, Signal Mt beat ND

I've said it before, but to make Junior happy I'll say it again: Soddy is head and shoulders above everybody on this list. Good luck to all of the Chattanooga teams named above (including Red Bank, even though I really want SMHS to win and go on to State), and Boyd Buch needs to be added as they will also play in Substate on Thursday night. That's a nice list with 10 out of 10 from Hamilton County going on to Substate. 2 of the 10 will knock each other out, but it would be great to have 8 County teams going to State. It's going to be tough for any of the Chattanooga teams to bring back the Gold. AAA will have some really strong teams, AA has Page and Goodpasture (and I have read some good things about CAK, but have never seen them), A has Friendship Christian and DII has two tough teams in St. Agnes and Ensworth, plus GPS has to travel to Memphis just to make it to State. chattdaddy
You are right about all the teams. Hope your little one digs up some good ones against RB. You are also correct about Coach Junior. I was thinking GPS was hosting the game it will be tough being St Benedict at Graceland.I hope you play that eagle sound on your phone Loud. You can always tell when your team is in the gym. LOL

PHargis
Chattanooga is always strong in Volleyball and is technically sound in every way. As I hve posted, there is a very good group of peole who teach the game. Even though the game hs changed a lot in the last few years, the very technical part has not. Yes there are those who argue with the officiating and I wouldnt be surprised if you would not hear of some of that this week but at most state tournaments Chattanooga elite complain more about teams not reacting to officiating that they do with the officiating itself. Chattanooga fans and for that matter fans all over the State are fair. And as much as schools and clubs travel thru the state, they are exposed to a LOT of different officials and it has made them better. Some parts of the State try lo lump themselves with the schools in Chattanooga but when trying to seperate geographical sections for play each year its obvious that the sections are Memphis, Jackson, Middle Tennessee, Knoxville, Chattanooga and upper East Tennessee. The only thing which devides them is some miles. Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga have a lot of DII Private schools, West Tennessee d has developed some godd DAA schools and some DA schools around Jackson. Middle is AAA oriented in every Direction with very good D2 schools in Davidson. Clarksville is making a lot of Noise to the north and Summertown, Loretto, Coloumbia, Coffee and Lincoln is coming on strong. Knoxville seems to have some very good schoos around Knoxville but seem not to have developed VB as much away from the area except toward Crossville. Jackson area is doing well. And Morristown, eastward goes to the big 8 which is a section unto itself. It is the Discrict 1 and 2 powerhouse. The State is big and long.So the State Breaks up like this in AAA. District 1-2 District 3-4 District 5-6 District 7,8,9,10,11 and 12 District 13 and 14 District 15 and 16 Edited October 25, 2011 by PHargis
