NOTRE DAME AT LIVINGSTON ACADEMY

Notre Dame faced Livingston Academy last year in the Region 4 A-AA Finals and won 1-0....This year Notre Dame must travel to the plateau again and win if they have any hope of advancing...

Last year's LA team was basically Kat Nigro, and ND easily shut her down, but LA's strategy was to keep the other 10 players behind the ball for a defensive wall...after LA took out ND's forward in the early few minutes of the match (Healy-She never returned that game)..ND was finally able to get a goal late in the game from a far outside shot..final 1-0 ND (10 LA players within the 18 is tough to manuever through)...

With Kat now graduated...and ND down slightly in our scoring ability this season, I will expect LA to go 11 behind the ball, hope for a tie, and try to win via PK's....Notre Dame hopefully will adjust for this and shoot often from far outside...

Will LA's dual sideline coaches agree with this strategy? :roflol:

Thoughts ? :popcorneater:

So you are maligning a team/coach who is scheming to give his team the best chance to win?? Let's see-I am guessing LA has maybe 1 or 2 club players compared to ND with many. LA a public school vs the ND privates. Be interesting to do a socio-economic comparison between families of the 2 teams. And most will admit that $$ correlates with good training options which in turn produces good soccer teams. Advice--take your W over LA jaubtily return to Chattanooga and quit sniveling becuse you only won by 1 goal last year.

...yes I am, makes for some pretty crappy soccer to watch for 80 minutes after travelling 2 hours away...

...finally, someone brings up the private vs. public debate, thanks so much, I have been waiting....

It's more of a class-arrogance issue. There are successful public schools who are loaded with club players whose fans gloat over wins vs rural public. So drop the woe is me/I am unfairly treated/people are envious because I am a private school fan. Winning can be done with class both private and public. I have friends coaches parents and fans of both public and private who do just that. Win with class. They don't whine because a team did its best to win and advance. Hypotbetical for you Champs-- ND plays Bearden in a win or go home game. Do you scheme to play to win.ie some type of defensive oriented plan or you play your game again and take a 6-0 beating feeling "good" that you provided a fun game for the fans to watch. Hey suggestion-if you don't want to see an "ugly" game @LA stay at home save some gas and go scout CCS. Ok there is some chum for comment-these boards have been dead/Chattanooga centric all year. Cheers.

I certainly respect your opinion, but believe me, I would say the same regarding LA if it was private....And I am certainly sorry for being critical of LA so much you felt compelled to defend them.....but as you admit, these boards have been dead, you can't blame me for trying to get things going...and my comments do not represent the Notre Dame community as a whole, just an often bored parent with obviously too much time...Just trying to get some things going out here maybe out of jealousy of how much banter occurs on the football boards (have you seen all of the Signal Mountain pages ?)

Honestly, I am a little shocked how Chattanooga-Centric, as you say, the boards are this year...I would love to see more Knoxville, etc. input...and I don't know of any other way to get the word out to get people to join and comment... I post often just to have things stay moving some...

So seriously, thanks for the thoughts,as that is exactly what I was trying to get started by even commenting/starting this particular thread...

God made rural public schools so small private schools could beat them in soccer.

This quote seemed appropriate Champs, so I'm sharing: "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." ~Henry David Thoreau

Isn't the goal of any game to do what you need to win as long as you follow and respect the rules of the game? Some teams test the boundaries of allowable physical contact to nullify at least partially an opponent's superior skill and athleticism. Other teams make the field shorter toward the same end. And others play eleven behind the ball in hopes of winning in PKs. Some of these strategies might detract from enjoyment of the game. But shouldn't we blame imperfect rules and not the teams trying to win while staying within the rules?

Trust me Champs I feel your pain (See WH @ Macon Co 9/12/11. 2-0 win for White House. Disregard the fact that the the field was about the size of a U10 6v6 field. They placed 10 players behind the ball and dared us to beat em from beyond the 18)

However, I have to go with the majority. If I feel that is my only chance to win I am going to use that strategy too. That being said, eventually someone almost always cracks before it comes to PKs.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
