Heard a rumor and only a rumor that Mark Pemberton currently at Macon Co. was going to coach at Kingston. Mark played and coached at Rockwood. He also won a state title with Knox Catholic. Whatever he does I wish him the best.

my vote would go with Brian Pankey. he's paid his dues and deserves the opportunity, either at Kingston or somewhere else. Will definitely bring the numbers back from the hallways to the sidelines, as well as some discipline.

I could be wrong but I do not think he has a teaching certificate yet, so he could not apply for the job if he does not have it.

You may be right, but since he's been on staff for more than 5 yrs as an assistant I believe that makes him eligible to apply and be considered for the job.

I believe that is correct by TSSAA bylaws but the Roane County School Board may require something more.

Coach King announced his retirement today after school. He will retire at Christmas

i was told be4 the season that hes gonna keep it quiet until after the season.why wait til christmas though?i played for coach king,graduated in 2001,that class was basiically the last deep one,over 80 players,loads of talent,he just dont have it in him anymore,the game has changed so much,and less,and less kids go out for football each year,kingston to me is one of the best coaching jobs in the state,it has everything in the making to be successful,also got a good undefeated group of middle schoolers coming up,so we want to develop them,not wait until there seniors and ride em like a horse,coach pankey is a great guy.but we need new blood outside of kingston to get things back in order,need discipline,and gotta make the kids hit,and workout like we used to,pemberton seems like the perfect fit,runs similar wing t offense,has a state title,and lots of region titles under his belt,but it scared me on how he jumps programs,maybe if its closer to home like rockwood he will stay,id say go after him,or empty the bank and go after a big name coach,young,energetic guy,either way im a jacket for life,just tired of seeing my jackets suffer,good luck to coach king,great person,he is kingston football.
