What teams will be there this year? Anyone know? NOTHING on the internet about the tournament that I can find.

CBHS edged out a 12 point overall victory to beat out Brother Martin(LA) i believe. The Brothers

didnt dress out Tate Robinson, Nick Gray, or Corbin McOlden.

This was my first tournament to see in Tennessee as my family has moved here from California. I was really impressed with the wrestling my sons and I saw. Christian Brothers certainly had some talented wrestlers as expected from a private school but I was impressed with some of the public schools and their wrestlers. The 126 champ from some school I guess near Nashville was very tough. Didnt get his name but he and the 106 pounder from Christian Brothers had some intense matches where they really seperated themselves from what looked to be good competition. Thanks for the great 1st impression of your states and some of the south's wrestling.

The 126 champion was Legrand Sommers from Blackman high school in Murfreesboro, and yes he is very tough, hard nosed kid. I have been very impressed with him over the years. I think that this might just be his year to shine.

Thanks for that. My boys and I will be sure to look for other events this year that his team may be in and try to get there. I didnt see him ranked in another post with rankings. Are those "official" or just someones opinion? either way, Im sure it all gets settled in your state tournament. Best of luck to him and those other boys who placed.

What was also amazing was it appear that the CBHS 106 pounder walked in the gym right when the finals began. It appeared that the coach was trying to delaying starting because of this but the kid went right out there and went to work. Good reason he was the OW

Thanks so much to the folks at Houston for putting on a great tournament. Everything was very well run and the BBQ sandwiches were great!

It is worth noting that the 220 finals match ended by injury default. Blackman's wrestler was winning the match when the match was stopped.

 

I too was very impressed by Oliver at 106. I saw his brother for the first time at state last year at 125 and he was a beast as well!
