I've been following the board for quite some time, but not nearly as long as I've been following the sport. I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on matchups we never got to see because the competitors weren't around at the same time. What matches would you like to have seen? I'll start you off with one that I think would have been barn-burners:

Scott Wells (Brentwood Academy) v. Shazzon Bradley (McMinn Central)

I think Wells was JUST better technically....and that's what would have gotten him through that one.

Side note: Anyone know how Shazzon is doing in Boxing? last I heard, he was a Pro Heavyweight.

My Dream matchup? Junior Hernandez (kcath) v. a Small (112) Phillip Simpson.

2 that were Exceptional of Technique....and Meaner than Rattlesnakes.

McTorry or Nelson were great wrestlers but neither one could have defeated Carletello in the State Tournament. If someone was going to beat Carletello they needed to do it early in the season before he got into wrestling condition. Mike Carletello could have been a world champion in ultimate fighting as he was a great athlete, super strong, and he loved the sight of blood!!!!

Michael was to big for Tony.

Matt Mondelli was good but was not as nasty as Michael. It would have been a good match but Michael would have been to big for Matt.

Michael vs McTorry: (in high school) McTorry was great but he had trouble (overtime) with Kevin Baltz everytime they wrestled. With the way that McTorry had to take timeouts to catch his breath against Baltz, he would have died against Michael in a state finals match. Michael knew how to get into wrestling condition for the state tournament. The only way that McTorry would have won is if Michael had been DQ for something. Michael would have hurt McTorry and yes it would have been on purpose.

Ask Gordon Connell what it was like when he worked out with Michael when he was in the 8th grade and you will understand.

Wrestling up will do that to you, which is what Charles did when he wrestled Kevin.

Michael was rough but I wouldn't call him nasty. I wrestled Charles alot but never got the opportunity to work out with Michael. I'll check with Gordon.

How about Nick Brugal (Hvwt runner-up from Bolton) vs.

Tywann Armstrong of Franklin?

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
