Dream Matchups

They didn't wrestle that many times. As a matter of fact I believe they wrestled 3 times: once at Kirby Inv., once at the Ryan Inv, and once at the state finals. But either way, the point is well taken... McTorry never beat Nelson. But I've just always wondered if the story would've been different if McTorry had been a senior when Nelson was. I was always a believer that Charles improved b/w his junior and senior years. Regardless, though, it still would've been close.

Yeah, maybe McTorry beat Nelson once in Freestyle, but Nelson went 5-0 or 6-0 career vs McTorry in Folkstyle. I do believe that is what counts in this discussion.

TNMAT, I forgot you were just a youngster at the time, but they wrestled twice when Markese was a sohomore and McTorry was a freshman. They were in different weight classes the following year, then back in the same weight class the next year.

I've got one: How about Rusty Blackmon (Bradley) vs. Markese Nelson?

 

This one has me all kinds of conflicted.....I Never saw Kese (in Folkstyle) lose. Ever. however, I saw Blackmon take a kid that had just DOMINATED in the State SemiFinals and stick him in 22 seconds.

 

I think this one would be an all-time classic.....with Blackmon at his 189 Senior year Incarnation, of course. I don't think he could have beaten Kese his Junior year at 171.

Keller & Simpson would be great. I would put my money on Keller and if you told him you would split it with him, he would go twice as hard. Both are great!

I think Blackmon would come out the winner. I think he could take him down and once on the mat he could do it. But I think it all come down to the mat. I don't like those matches where they stand around and push each other. Take it to the mat!
