Communities big man has been over rated all year. They play better with him on the bench. WHH better concentrate on the Simmons and Fanning kid. Communities guards will produce regardless. Close game, 5 points either way. Cascade and McCwen will me closer than you would think. These two teams will match up good, if Cascade plays 4 quarters instead of three it could be interesting. Guard play will be the difference for Cascade.

Leverette has not played as well since the concussion. Fanning has played well in his place. Guard play will be a major factor for Cascade. MTCS will control tempo and win. Forrest will be able to play their game and get many open looks. All 9A teams should do well although all probably won't win.

This quote came from the Shelbyville Times-Gazette: on the last game between Cascade and Community.

"For most of the season, Cascade's size in the post has caused issues for opposing teams' offenses, but for the third time against rival Community, the Vikings had their way inside the paint and beyond the arc."

So which is it? Is Communities big man over rated or can they have their way inside the paint. I know Community has a muscular big guy,(don't know how tall?) but will he be able to handle 6'8" Bedwell (recent Trevecca signee)and 6'5" Ray (undeclaired)in the paint. Will Community try to press? Man up? All questions to be answered. :thumb:

Community can play man or zone. Inside guys are as tall as anyone in 9A. Simmons may be the most athletic guy in district. Leverette about 3 inches shorter than Bedwell.

Simmons is athletic. Keith wins the designation as most athletic and I think Farmer may have an edge on Simmons. Probably splitting hairs but that's how I see it.

Did you see the final score? Lots of subs played and lots of three's. Can't control what the press says.

Coach Bryant went deep that game and the Vikings did most of the damage from the perimeter. Leverette didn't play as much as usual and Grissom didn't even dress. Vikings have lots of tools. They are capable of pulling it off.

Frankly if a single A team has a 6'8" and a 6'5" post player I don't see how they are not undefeated. You should own the boards and score on nearly every possession if you get the ball across half court.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
