MountainTroll
Found this interesting this am. No talk of the DII effects just NCLB. http://www.timesfree...-transfer-rule/ Here is better article on Rick Smith's proposal. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/feb/19/student-transfer-program-in-jeopardy/ Doubt this will have a significant impact on those who pursue transfer for athletic reasons. I also doubt that the school system will do anything to improve the "low-performing" school. BLUEMOM
It would be nice if they did funnel that $ to the low-performers. We shall see what falls out. Transfers for athletic and academics have occurred for years and will continue. I just find open admission of public school "recruiting" or "transferring" (however one wants to phrase it)interesting. Indian
"Low performing schools" are generally the result of low performing students and their low performing parents especially those who allow the students to fall behind at an early age. All the $$$ in the world aren't going to help some situations.

All the $$$ in the world aren't going to help some situations. Ummm, maybe we might think of some incentives which could be provided to motivate those students to stay in those schools. Might be tough and might be a little expensive but whats happening now has to be more so. With all of the change going on in the schools now and in the future, a little creativity might now be accepted and take the Principal and show successs stories and get their suggestions or........... BDURHAM
Funny how the perspective varies with the school, isn't it? What is interesting are the claims of the Brainerd and Howard coaches about their student-athletes being recruited and leaving their schools. This is not unique to Chattanooga. Nothing new. Another interesting part of the article is that public schools are being mentioned in the recruiting dynamic.
forgetfulcub
Well Baylor and McCallie can keep using schoolarships for there recurits. Signalmnt is going to have to open up some address for there recurits. or better yet ask Sequatchie County to annex the school into their county, then they willn't have to follow rick's rule. well never mind signal mnt don't follws the rules any way. LOL Edited February 20, 2012 by forgetfulcub

MountainTroll
sound like a good plan. some schools teach academics and yours can teach athletics. Somebody's got to do it. Magnets attract; they don't have to recruit.
