District 14-A 2013

Recommended Posts

Will be an interesting year in 14-A as most teams lose key players. The early favorite will be Humboldt who returns almost everyone including 2,000 yard rusher McLily. They should be improved next year. Union City loses alot in #25 Hyde, #4 Lewis, I believe QB Rutland as well and pretty much the entire O-Line with #52 Shanks and others. Trenton loses #8 Doaks, #2 and the RB #22 Barnett. Not sure how much up front but a few seniors there as well. South Fulton loses pretty much entire offesne with #2 Garmon, #6 Fowler and some linemen. Not sure on Halls and Greenfield. Gibson Co. looks to be added to the district and I am not sur what they have coming back but I am sure they are glad to move to 1A. As for the Falcons they hope to get some guys healthy and all the way back from injury (Greg Ross, Chase Crittenden, Cameron Mills and Stavonski Wilkes). They have some key skill guys returning in #5 Flowers, #25 Caldwell and #2 Coleman but lose some key players at QB, FB, RB LT and LG. Defense will be bigest concenr, considering the struggles at times there this year with the loss of 6 starters. The def will def be young and inexperienced. The off-season workouts and spring will be key for the falcons and for all teams in 14-A for that matter.

I hear the Falcons are keeping Murray, KY in week 0 and Fulton Co., KY in week 1. If the district goes to 8 teams as proposed that leaves them 1 nondistrict game to fill in a week 3 or 5. That means district games will be Gibson Co., Greenfield, Halls, Humboldt, Peabody, South Fulton and Union City in some order. I know Coach B has contacted West Carroll, Gleason, Bruceton among others to try and fill dates. Gues more will be known on scheduling after districts are finalized and coaches attend scheduling meeting.

Swo, I know Union City lost alot but tell me what they return?

Yeah we lost alot that's true. Basically we lost our entire offensive backfiled including the QB. We lost several on the line as well. However Im looking forward to see what this next class can bring in. We will still have several athletes that can fly. Moffit being one of those. We will return Ricky Henry who got invaluable experience while Hyde was out for the last half of the season really. This group of sophmores, who will be junoirs are among some of the hardest hitting players on the field will make alot of noise as well. Im optomistic but not convinced just yet. If you look at how well our JV performed over the last couple of years it offers some reason to think we will be a team to be reckoned with. Not sure what that will bring but atleast it's not like the 2010, 2011 seasons outlook. I think we will be okay. But not great.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
