1 State Championship for McMinn Central

Of course, that is more than Tellico has, and I wish we had the one championship. But why don't they have multiple championships like other power houses over the last 15 years? (Livingston, Jackson County, etc,,)? Honestly, I thought the teams from 97 - 00 were probably some of Central's best teams. That was when they started their dynasty.

This is not to knock anyone, but it is something that a lot of people notice.

I am from Gibson County and we had some undefeated, great basketball teams that for some reason couldn't put three games together for years in M'boro until 2009 and 2010. We played Central for the title in 2010 and we were very fortunate to win that game. AA is tough. 1 Gold and how many Silvers? 2 or 3. Not to bad. And there almost every year. Central is not through either.

I think you answered your question in your orgional post. They have had to play the powerhouses of LA, JC, CC, Upperman.GC. And several of those time have been just to get into the tourny and usually have to face another of the mentioned teams once there. Central is either in the substate or state tourny about every year. I would be willing to bet they have won far more state tournement games than they have lost. They just cant seam to get a break in that last game and win the big one. And as a LA fan i'm not sure why I keep defending them, I must be losing my sanity.

I believe it's because the Chargerettes are rarely battle tested during the season. LA, Cannon, Gibson,CPA etc....are all tested during season, districts and regions. It makes them tough, both mentally and physically. Chargerettes have 0 competition in District 5AA and Region 3AA. Sequoyah, Polk, Meigs, Sweetwater, and Chattanooga teams are usually terrible year in and year out (there have been some exceptions though). Knox Webb, Alcoa and McMinn may have been the only time CHS has "battled" this season. Girl's basketball is down and has been down in our area. (For OP:Tellico used to be great but have dropped off to getting beat every year by 1A schools in tournaments. Question should be: What happened to Tellico Girls Basketball that used to compete in AA?)

I just believe these other power house schools are tested all season. McMinn Central is not tested until sub-state. jmo

I would love to see a home and home game between Jackson County and McMinn Central as it would be a great test and character builder for both teams during the season. Jackson County has played 3 of the 8 teams in the AA state tournament and has beaten them all and split with LA. I think if MC came up to the Upper Cumberland and played some teams up here it would help everyone and there would be some great games for us fans to watch! :popcorneater:

Agree 100%, This would be beneficial for both teams and the fans. Win or lose, Central needs to schedule more teams from that area

Chargerettes have 1 Gold and 3 Silvers since the mid-90's. 2 silvers and the gold have come within the last 10 years. On at least two occasions, they played in a 1st round game that pitted the #1 v #2 ranked team.

With that said, the year we won the gold we played in a holiday tournament at Cannon County, and another one at Macon County.

1 is better than none. And I guarantee that not one of those crazy fans in that little round house would trade any of their girls or their coach for another title.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
