Pumped up about some Copper Basin football! Cougars have lost some valuable players from last year's team but the returning players are not to be under estimated. They return two 'head hunters' in Sosebee and Q. Brown leading the linebacker core. Then all you need to know on offense is returning RB Denzell Brown who can turn any play into 6 at any given time! These three leaders with other talented players around them could do a lot more this season than people are giving them. I see a very talented and respected team coming to the basin next week but I also see a chance to shock the world for the cougars! Long trip to the Basin for them Coalfield boys but I wish them a safe trip and I'm ready for some football!

This basin team will be ready to go. I have seen them practice, and they look sharp. They are ready to shock the world, but they respect Coalfield and know what kind of team they are. Next Friday will be a madhouse at Cougar Stadium can't wait. Go Get em Basin!!!!

It will be a close game until the Jackets get off the bus!No way will anyone be shocked except you. They are that good. They practically return the team that beat the team that stuck 62 on your best team you all have had in a good while.A whippin is comin.

Maybe the drive will get to coalfield and they will overlook the Cougars. But on paper Coalfield is big favorite. But ruining coalfields season would he great revenge from a few years ago.

Coalfield won't get their season ruined if and until they play Nashville Christian in the playoffs. NC has some incredible size, speed, and depth for a 1A school.

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
