It really hurts me to say this and I have all the hope in the world for this team... It'll be rough once the tough games roll in. Our size is very bad. I can't recall our tallest player being this short in a long time. If the shot doesn't fall then the chance of an offensive rebound is gonna be slim. So far we've been shooting very well, but that isn't going to happen every night like you said.

Those two were still anomalies. Taking the years with those two on the team out of the equation, and almost all of our teams in the past have looked like this year's size wise. Coach Martins teams have always been three point oriented and have competed and pulled several upsets. I look at this year as being a return to the norm for DC basketball. We've ALWAYS lacked in the size department and still had really good teams. Just look back, Upperman and LA have always had our number, even with Sonni and Braxton. I expect this year to be much of the same.

I've seen Smith, we can beat them. Yes, they have one tall post player, but from 1-5 we're still taller (their guards are actually REALLY short and we actually have the same/slightly more depth.. Unless I'm mistaken Cannon only has Larson that's a size threat. Sounds like LA ONLY has Eldridge, and I'm not sure they were bringing any other height back anyways...Hollars maybe?

And now I've heard that Upperman lost a pretty good player to Cookeville.

DC will be competitive as always (keep In mind that when I say always Im not including the past three above average years) although I agree that we WILL lose a few more games than last year. There's a good chance that we will still come out of this season with an over .500 record, IMO.

Just remember that we've gone into LA and upset them without a player over 6'2 before and that was when they had Devon and Logan Ramsey on the team, and Chase Dunn. (06-07 I believe...)

I don't want to seem like I'm attacking you TP23 lol...I just feel like Lynus is one of the best at winning games against MUCH more talented teams. I may be mistaken but I think we're the only 8-AA team that's gone into LA and won.

After seeing Cannon, I really like what I see. Very tough Defensively and good outside shooting. Forced nearly 30 Turnovers against Coffee. Cannon isn't very flashy, but they will be a handful for anyone they face in the district. Just hard working blue collar type kids who can shoot very well and play outstanding defense.

Not sure about the boys. Upperman is supposed to have one of their posts back that was hurt last season and 2-3 returning starters. Gordonsville is really really good. They really impressed me against smith, and I was surprised that they lost to Pickett (testament to how good PC is too, maybe). G-Ville definitely has the pieces to win the game, I think, but Upperman is always so good.

G-ville played a good game tonight beating Upperman at their place. Got some good play from the bench as both post players for G-ville had foul trouble. Good team win

    • Agree. The man literally sacrificed time, moments, memories you can't get back with his own family for every single athlete at that school. (and many others) To those that continue to be negative about him and continue to bring him up; He's been loyal, hardworking and just his entire coaching career. Ask anyone that actually has a leg to stand on in regard to Coach.
    • Egotistical? That's a new one.  It's funny, I'm friends with two of the younger coaches that he "ran off" as you say. In fact, he helped them find jobs, encouraged them to do what was best for their growing families, provided advice, support and still does to this day.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out, you don’t wanna go to the grave with that on your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
