I agree with you devotedvbfan, except I know personally that, at least for Hume-Fogg, they did not underestimate Sullivan South coming into the tournament. we had heard about them and knew they would be a great team. Just wasn't their day when it came time for championship and Sullivan outplayed HFA. was the closest match out of any of the championship matches that day I believe. You are definitely right about Sullivan's heart though. I still can't believe that comeback against CAK. was a great tournament.

how many seniors are on sullivan south? I think #9 was a senior but not sure. HFA keeps two of their good hitters but loses #10 (best hitter) and libero and a middle blocker, but has decent replacement and still good middle hitter, outside hitter, and setter. I know CAK keeps some good players including big girl.

Yes, #9 Riley Milhorn is a senior as are South's 2 middles, one right side and one setter so they certainly lose a lot this year and as you know Riley is a special player who will be missed greatly.    Of course, they lost a lot from last year's team that finished 3rd in AAA - two starting middles, one outside, right side, and libero and that turned out OK   :) .  And they lost a lot from the team the year before that that finished 4th in AAA (middle, setter, libero).    So hopefully the beat goes on.    As for next year several girls return who played huge roles on this years team and there is some younger talent on the bench and coming up through the ranks that will hopefully develop as it has in years past.    Seeing the players mature and improve is what makes it fun!   Who knows maybe we will see you again next year!

Congratulations to SS and HF. They played great and deserved to be in the finals. I read a lot of chatter on here and was expecting much more from CAK. They were talented, and BIG, but were uninspired. Their coach looked like he was scared, and was extremely unemotional. SS and HF were exciting and competitive. Playing the tall player on the right was odd. We just went away from her. 9 from South was amazing. I watched the 5 game match with CAK and SS out coached CAK, and she got the team fired up and made changes that helped her team, in contrast the CAK bench was quiet and made no adjustments.

We should be good next year, and so should HF. Great job SS!

Congratulations to ALL of the teams that made it to the state tournament.  What a treat for all of the players and the coaches to be in the Murf.  Savor and make the most of it, because you never know if you will have another shot at it again.  Sullivan South had a great year and they certainly deserve their win.  Way to go Hume Fogg, super year for those girls and their coach.  CAK might not have met some expectations, but they were certainly in the mix for winning the whole thing.  When we look at the whole year, not a bad place to finish compared to most teams who were home a long time ago.  Parents, players, and coaches, always keep things in perspective.  Volleyball is a great sport but more than that; a fun game to play.  Keep spiken em till next season.  Can't wait!

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
