Boys Volleyball

Does anybody know if there is a chance for volleyball in Tennessee High School sports in the near future for boys? My son is 9 getting ready to be 10 and he played club ball last year and he was the only boy on the team as there is a new rule that if there is no boys team in the club they can play until they are 12 and then they can't go any further.  It is a shame because he loves the game. He really had no choice with his mom coaching and his dad playing all the time he loves to play.  We have been in touch with the Southern Storm from Georgia but that is just so far to travel.  In a couple of years he will not have an option except to travel a long way to play.  I had heard a rumor of middle school volleyball for boys in this area but it has died down.  Does anybody have info?  thanks

Boys Volleyball is a GO!

Ethos VBC will have a Boys indoor team for the very 1st time this coming year.  All those interested should attend the Informational Meeting on Sunday, September 15th.  Time & location to be announced.  Go ahead and start spreading the word – boys volleyball is coming to Nashville!

Not sure where you live, but I've seen boys teams from the K2 club in Knoxville at the bigger tourneys in Atlanta.  These were older teams but they may have something for the younger ages, too.

Alliance may also still have boys' teams. In the past they fielded a 14U and an 18U team. They have had boys teams for at least 5 years but have to travel quite far to play. 

 

Don't think you'll be seeing boys volleyball as a sanctioned HS sport anytime in the near future.

I know Nashville had a boys club program going a few years ago. They had some good talent too. Scott Rhein is playing D-1 ball all the way out at Pepperdine. Haven't heard much about it in the last couple of years though...
