Smith County @ Upperman

What's you point?

Since 96, it's been the other way around.

I can live with once in almost 20 years. We'll see what happens next year.

Until then, Congrats Upperman.

It's OK croz. Some other programs HAVE TO use both county teams to measure where their programs are. LOL

109 Points against the two Smith County Teams is a good accomplishment for this season and you guys have a fine ball club, and you should be proud since you guys have only scored 72 points since 2001 combined against both Smith County Teams.

They did score 32 in 98, but they still lost. That was under Maynord.

I am glad, however, to see them have success. It's good for the Upper Cumberland as a whole for all the teams to do well.

Upperman's HC should make sure their stats are turned in to the Tennessean. I know its early in the season but the numbers are legit. Barring injury, York should be a Mr. Football candidate.

Im sure they are sending in his stats. Lets hope he dont get screwed like Poteete did in 08. Zach Rogers last name won it for him that year, his stats was not even impressive.

Know he had like 10 td after first 2 weeks and either had 5 or 6 last night. 16 td in 3 game is impresive even if ur playing rbs ever game. I agree, Poteet and Ty Field were good but dint get state wide recognition

Poteete was all-state player and Mr. Football (back) 3a finalist in 08. His stats were way better than the other two kids. Zach Rogers won it because of his last name and where he played (David Lipscomb).

Someone beat me to it, but Poteete was a Mr. Football finalist in 08.

Poteete is listed quite a few times in records if you go through them. Also Fields a few times. They got plenty of recognition.

    • Agree. The man literally sacrificed time, moments, memories you can't get back with his own family for every single athlete at that school. (and many others) To those that continue to be negative about him and continue to bring him up; He's been loyal, hardworking and just his entire coaching career. Ask anyone that actually has a leg to stand on in regard to Coach.
    • Egotistical? That's a new one.  It's funny, I'm friends with two of the younger coaches that he "ran off" as you say. In fact, he helped them find jobs, encouraged them to do what was best for their growing families, provided advice, support and still does to this day.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out, you don’t wanna go to the grave with that on your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
