AlumnI01
I was told he was going to try and play basketball there he is close friends with the Coleman kid.I talk to his grandfather today keep them in your prayers he lost his grandmother this week Was he not already playing for SH? If not, why? Was he not good enough? The last thing I heard about him was that he wasn't sure he even wanted to play basketball because he wanted to focus primarily on football. I'm sorry to hear about his grandmother. Edited December 6, 2013 by AlumnI01

CoachMo45
Art, I am entering this to say "hi" because you are my bleacher buddy. I am going to take exception to a statement you made but I don't mean ill will toward you. It is my belief that no one wins an argument ( I haven't won an argument with my wife in 44 years so I quite trying ) and so you certainly don't have to agree with what I'm going to say.You stated that the Indians have ''good to great shooters''. Even though you watch a lot of basketball I don't think you've seen a great shooter in a long time, because I haven't. I will tell you why I can evaluate a shooter. When I came out of high school I was recognized as the best shooter in the country. I shot 95 percent from the free throw line. That included making 57 free throws in a row in game competition '' a national record at the time ''. i shot 65 percent from the field with everyone trying to stop me. I made sure my team won or I knew I wouldn't make First Team Parade ALL American. When Ray Mears was TN's basketball coach, his top recruiter Tommy Bartlett came to Florida and saw me score 55 points against Clearwater H.S. I missed three field goal attempts the entire game. Clearwater H.S. had three guys who played DIV.1 basketball. Tommy Barlett reported to Ray Mears that "my performance was as good as any he'd ever seen by a high school player". I achieved this by waking up at 5 a.m. every morning and shooting eight hours a day. Iwas a "shooting instructor" at Dean Smith's basketball camps for 25 years. If there was a " great shooter" at DB he would be recruited by many DIV. 1 programs because there are very few kids committed and dedicated enough, along with the necessary eye/hand coordination, to be a " great shooter".Kids aren"t worthy of being called "great" unless they've worked incredibly hard to warrant that distinction. I also don't think many ,if any, local high school coaches know how to teach kids the proper way to shoot a basketball. They simply don't have the background to be able to teach a kid the proper way to shoot. I will offer another opinion. George Pitts is one of the finest coaches I have seen at any level. Yes, I think I know something about how great coaches do things because I was coached by Larry Brown and Dean Smith-obviously Hall of Fame coaches. Why in the last ten years or more doesn't DB have any kids successfully playing college basketball at some level? When I coached at Volunteer H. S. for five years I had eight kids play small college ball( King, Milligan, Tusculum etc. ) When I arrived there they had experienced one team that had a winning season in 17 years. We went to sub-state two of my five years and won the conference (AA class ) three years. When I coached at Sevier we played Liberty Bell four times a year. Our record against them for 15 years was 58 wins and 2 losses. I see where DB lost to Jefferson County today. That just illustrates my point. If DB has "great shooters" and they are coached to achieve good shot selection how do they lose to Jefferson County? Help me understand. I do hope you guys will do better at some point against Science Hill. They just obviously dominate DB's program . I am sure, well not really, that DB will beat Science Hill a couple times sometime in the future. The odds are not to lose time after time. You should beat this years Science Hill team. I can't understand losing to them at all this year. Art,

WaCoJaCo
At DC don't know why you would go there to play football. Why not? They made it as far in the playoffs this year as most other teams in this area. Edited December 11, 2013 by WaCoJaCo
