Blackman vs Maryvile Game Promo

Agreed, this a championship game that should be in Cookeville. A physical game going to be won at the line of scrimmage. A lot different than last years Siegel game. A lot more of a run game here, played between the tackles. I do give Maryville the edge because of home field and they probably have a better passing game. Coaching edge will go to Maryville and also player experience in playoff games.

1. Ask any BHS fan, playing at Bowling Green was the worst , playing at MHS will not bother them

The topic is about 2013 Maryville and 2013 Blackman.

 

2013 Maryville will be in it's first semifinal this year, same as Blackman. 

 

Proud of past championships but most of those players are long gone now. It would be nice to have a bunch of them suit up Friday but those players, Championships, rankings etc over the last 10 years won't move the football one yard forward on offense or make any stops on D Friday. Can't expect to toss a jersey on the field and win.

 

As far as the Alcoa rivalry... I'd feel a lot better about the outcome of this game if we were playing Alcoa, but we aren't. Blackman would curb stomp Alcoa and all other TSSAA teams. What they did to Oakland was eye opening.

 

Home field advantage, yes.

 

Coach making the right calls, yes.

 

Blackman out gained Bowling Green 328 yards to 197 yards AT Bowling Green (42 game win streak). We've only seen two QB's close to Jennings from recent memory. Siegal's Stockstill last year (Butch Jones wanted him at Cinncinatti) and the big Sullivan South QB who is playing at Wisconsin.

 

Do you know which players from Blackman are being recruited and where?

 

If folks haven't seen your two SEC sized linebackers play ball, supported by exceptional OLB's they will be surprised. Picture TK Jr and put 30 lbs of muscle and a couple of inches on him and that is about right.

 

I do think Maryville wins, but imo Blackman will be the best team and group of athletes to compete against us on our field and it will take guts to win this one even more than Siegal last year.

31-2, read that. Blackman would do the same to them. Maryville seniors never lost a game to Alcoa in youth ball, middle school, freshman team or high school. None of the games were close.

Cody West  6-3, 215lbs of Riverdale came to Maryville a few years ago as a pretty good dual threat QB and his line avg. was around 290lbs. Siegal's Stockstill was a dual threat but had a torn ACL when we played them. One of the gutsiest performances I've seen by a QB. More schools are after Blackman's QB than the one's we've seen in the past and he's a junior.

 

In our most recent game with Riverdale their QB was out with an ACL. We had 3 turnovers in that game and trailed early. The first time a team had been up on us all year. It was a good gut check. The Rebels responded. In games where we've been challenged, turnovers were the culprit. A great D will cause turnovers. Blackman has the best D we've seen since 2011 Haven.

Pass game is not a toss up.....not impressed with Blackman throwing the ball, if they are forced to throw, they are in TROUBLE.....Pass game heavily favors Murvil, IMO

Agree 100% with above post that the team that is most physical controlling the los wins. When Blackmans big linebackers come crashing in like they did against Oakland's big and mobile linemen, they won. They beat Oakland at Oakland's own game and nobody had beat that dominating Oakland team, until Blackman who nearly beat them twice.

 

Our linemen on both sides need to bring it and our linebackers hit like they did in the Webb game. Would love to see our DT's after the QB like they did against Alcoa. A mobile QB like Blackmans can make you look like you are running in sand (which is why an endless number of D1 schools want him), our DE's need to contain to stop the big play or at least minimize them.

 

The Bradley Central QB gave us fits. It looked like we were going to sack him half a dozen times and he'd somehow get the ball off. Agree with Jake, passing game favors Rebels and not playing players both ways also. This is a deep Maryville team and that is a huge factor this late in the season when all teams are banged up.
