CAK turf

Recommended Posts

Don't act like the turf lag didn't bother you. Looks like it's time for the Irish to go ahead with the plans for a dome. Recruiting wars. LOL How long til Webb follows suit?

It is really cost effective and prevents a lot of wear and tear on a field when you have three football teams, two soccer teams and two lacrosse teams all using the same field (not to mention the Catholic youth football). At least you all have been able to avoid the "other" football teams from wearing out your real football field.

Now Irish you know the truth is that KCHS had to get turf because you were killing all the grass on the practice and playing fields with all of those "voluntary...no coaches allowed" practices  8-)

Actually I would prefer to keep the grass field, just make sure it drained well and was well maintained by diverting all the other activities to other playing/practice fields.  Ensworth probably has more money than CAK & KCHS combined, but they have a grass field.  Of course the subsurface drainage system on it rivals Neyland Stadium.  I'm sure we will get good use out of it and I think it looks good, but I still like playing on grass and getting a little muddy ever now and then.

I do not recall the events of which you speak.......LOL. Someone must have missed/ignored the No Camera Allowed sign on our walking path.

I'm with you, FBDAD, I guess that is the old school coming out in us.  Don't care much for Friday nights on the turf when a team can play in white uni's and end the game with no grass stains or dirt on the uni.  But, I guess we better get used to them, it seems that it is part of the trend they call "advancement".

    • My favorite game of the 1980'S, that's why I remember it so well.
    • Why would the tax payers be responsible for paying for only a coach? In recent years with all the theft from various programs in schools from different programs with booster clubs (not just sports) the State of TN has made alot of rules surrounding booster clubs and how they handle money.  I have two documents to review, 1 is 40 pages from the state comptroller and the other is 37 pages from my district, so I can consider starting a booster club for my middle school program. It has been too much trouble in the past for the other coaches.  There is no way there needs to be an adult in the school building for 7 hours a day with no responsibilities except coaching.
    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
    • Boyd could actually be a grade below what he is now, but his parents didn't see the need to "redshirt" him like the other city school down the road would have pushed for....
