Z-plan--Failure

That Z-plan was Ronnie Carter's baby. It was forced on an unwilling public who never wanted it in the first place!! STUPID IDEA!!! Thanks for the big mess TSSAA!! Your new plan has some merit. Yet again you will find many flaws like when one side of the state has too many teams and long travel distances cannot be avoided. Guaranteeing playoff berths is another bad idea!! Regular season is now meaningless. Most of your 1st round games are now a joke in this new plan for the top class. Yet even so it is better than the Z-plan. Congrats!!

Down size to 4 classes or do 5 classes across the board. In the 90s it wasn't broken!!

confucius say...it is basically 5 classes across the board...they just took the 32 largest out...to equalize the 5 classes.....other than the 32 largest being removed...it is pretty much EXACTLY like it was in the 90's.

Yeah but we are going to hear about how much better they are than the rest of us. Already calling it the "Super 32". Please let's give everybody a trophy and play touch football. At least in our case the teams we follow have to earn their spot.

How is the regular season meaningless? Teams in 6A will still be fighting for seeding and will still want to win as many games as possible to try and win their district. And teams will still have to earn their way to cookeville. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

The TSSAA isnt going to approve a proposal that eliminates a state champion. Childress recommended a move to 5 classes two years ago and they voted against it. This is plan is an improvement over the current plan. Too often teams in 6A have had a great season only to face a team with a similar record in the playoffs. Also eliminates the difficulty of finding non-district games for the most part.

Before this plan was surprised upon everyone, most of the coaches had recommended going back to a 5-A plan. Most of the board had agreed with the coaches they represent. You can go back and look that up. Hey, it is what it is now. So be it.

One should not be handed a playoff spot. That should be earned. Not everybody should get a trophy mentality. Eliminate half of the teams then get into the playoffs and you have something. Nobody should get a guaranteed 11th game and more revenue just because of enrollment size. It's very plain and simple.
