Are you saying K2 directors didn't train any coaches on "their" ideals of coaching to any coach but 1 team coaches? A coach that is going to represent their company at tournaments? They don't care who or how someone coaches unless its for the elite players? Is it not the job of 2 and 3 team coaches to develop the skills of players to reach the 1 team level?  

 

My daughter started her first year of club on his 14-3 team, where a beginner should be. After just one year with him as her coach the next year she was placed on the 15-1 team that won a bid to Girls Junior National Championships. 

 

I'm thinking "your friend" has an extremely one sided opinion. If the 2 and 3 team coaches aren't valued why would the players on those teams be valued? Which may be the reason why so many of them left for KVA.

I can't answer that question. I'm just telling you part of what was told to me. Like I said, in order not to embarrass the coach and go into more detail. Let's just leave it at that. This answer wasn't to talk about K2 vs KVA. It was an answer to beachboy.

I agree.  The K2 vs. KVA thread has been exhausted.

 

I just wanted it known that to claim the Bearden Coach has no training is a false statement. He may not be everyones (especially K2's)  favorite coach, but he has been coaching for years and has made a positive impact on many players.

 

Bearden has gotten better as the season has progressed. Our defense still needs work though, if they are off, the whole team is off. We work with what we have and take it game by game. Just know that even with all the BHS coach bashing his team works hard for him and still has a fun time playing. Thats the best you can hope for in a high school season.

BBV thanks for taking the time to answer my inquiry, I appreciate it very much.  I do agree with Knoxdoyles on what he/she is saying.  If all club coaches are better than any of the high school coaches then that should include coaches of the 2 and 3 teams (sorry, I digressed to the other thread, my bad).  Oh, and a very nice article in the Knoxnews today on the Bearden coach and his daughter.  Nice place to be when you have your teenage daughter loving and respecting you at the same time.  Teenagers can be tough sometimes.  So that man is a lucky one.

Great Article. Any dad would be proud to have a daughter like that. She'll do great things college. With her help and the other senior leadership, the team can't help but get better.

I whole heartedly agree with you BBV.  No matter what the detractors say about his coaching, they cannot take that bond away from father and daughter.  Priceless.....  Oh there are some things on this earth more important in life than getting a scholarship for volleyball, hmmmmm just sayin'

You are exactly right Beachboy!!!. We get so caught up (as parents) in our children that we lose focus on what we should be doing.We constantly battle with doing the right thing vs doing what we think is best. It's not always about "my kid" is it? I think not. I had to deal with this a while ago at Karns. I thought the coach was not giving my daughter a fair shake. Even some of my friends would tell me the same thing. I thought (seriously) about moving her to another school, because you know. The coach knows nothing I know everything and my daighter should be playing..LOL.. Well i am so glad I didn't do any of that. I understood that my daughter wasn't playing for a reason the coach had. The coach is the coach and that's how it was going to be. I made my daughter stick it out there and boy oh boy was she better for it. She learned so much from that.One of the things she learned was, although you can always run away from problems, you don't. You deal with them and learn from them. It's time our parents start doing that. Don't move your kids just because you think they "deserve" to play. Let them learn and strive to be better. Sooner or later we (parents) will not be able to help our kids out.

BBV well said.  Sometimes priorities need to be readjusted.  I have seen too many situations where people looked back and said wow.
