ds4life
Really stinks for the players that have worked hard all year to make it to the State Tournament only to find out TSSAA has the entire tournament played at high schools. No MTSU this year, will be a nice home court advantage for Siegel in AAA playing on their home court the entire weekend. The private school divisions make it all the way to State and they get to play at Siegel Middle School both days. At least they used to move the venues around. I'm sure Blackman, Stewarts Creek and Siegel will do a fantastic job hosting as they always do, but not a State Championsip venue. I'm sure ticket prices will be the same - thanks T$$AA

MountainTroll
I guess the $3mil T$$AA has in the bank won't cover rent at MTSU. http://990s.foundationcenter.org/990_pdf_archive/620/620555481/620555481_201306_990.pdf Edited October 17, 2014 by MountainTroll

vbfan07
If there are 3 high schools in the county hosting the state volleyball tournament and 2 of them are competing in the AAA state tournament, would the logical thing not be to hold AAA at Stewart's Creek which is neutral for all? Clearly way too logical of a thought process for TSSAA- The location may not be as close to Murfreesboro proper but c'mon... You give one team a home court for the duration and then make their cross town rival, Blackman, go play in the Siegel gym. Shame on you TSSAA- Absolutely pathetic and it seems a bit sketchy all around.
tarp
Everyone pays the TSSAA ticket price. Move the games to a neutral site! A-AA would be neutral if played at Siegel. If T$$AA can't afford MTSU (and Troll showed they can!) then at least don't give any team a home court advantage. Something stinks once again! Baylor12
Be happy that you're at a high school. Division 2 has been relegated to Siegel Middle School!!! Shameful for the TSSAA to treat student-athletes who work hard and celebrate their success by putting them in a middle school gym. Nothing creates a state championship feel more than a 9:30 AM match in a middle school facility. And TSSAA wonders why Division 2 wants to conduct their own championships
Baylor12
2013 State Volleyball Tournament made $38,506 and now they're moving it to middle schools. Always have been told we could not have championships on Saturday which would allow parents to not miss work and classmates not miss school was because of MTSU. Well, no MTSU, and we still play on schooldays in the middle of the academic day. Shameful
clifford20
It is absolutley pitiful that TSSAA allows a Middle School to host a state championship. Siegel has hosted for many years, so I am not surprised by that. It will be Brentwood and Siegel in the finals. Wouldn't doubt that either school will lose a game until the final. This is by far the best Siegel team in the 8 previous state qualifying teams. Best of luck, hope to attend the finals!
bb317
It is truly an outrage...Don't just let the 38K the TSSAA made be the only monetary value here. Middle gets a huge % of revenue from the State which means all these hotel rooms and meal sales tax will still provide MTSU plenty of revenue for doing NOTHING!!!! Chris Massaro (sp) owes all of the participants a personal apology along with the Basketball coaches at Middle.. It's really no surprise little man Rick Ensell would block this being played at Murphy Center as he never allowed Shelbyville HS to even PLAY volleyball during his reign of terror there ...... No issue aimed at the Mboro high schools at all. They're just taking what is presented to them... At the end of the day it is an absolute slap in the face to the sport itself... Teams if you can stay in hotels down the road in Davidson County!!!
VballBruins
T$$aa is a joke, playing a state championship in a Middle School is ridiculous, let alone a HighSchool,All teams deserve the big stage, even Siegel! It's a shame,as hard as these girls work that they are a afterthought, sure wouldn't happen to football or basketball...and as if they don't make enough they charge us to park...at a school...comon man! bigbluevolley
What I hate, and somoene posted about this a while back, is that the winners bracket can not lose in order to be the champions but the losers bracket can lose once and still be champs. Who runs this outfit? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
