Your right "there has to be something done in the off season with the way the defense is coached" ..any great coach would see that is where the fault lies and if Graham cant set friendship aside and fix the problems, then 5 wins is correct !it has to be done for the players and the fans ..

We still have some great coaches on the staff .I'd love to get right into this one with both feet when it comes to several things that would help our team out.I think coach Clark done a great job on his part of running the offense from what we thought might happen. We also have to factor on the defensive side that we have a lot of young guys and this is one of the smaller teams we have had as well.Time will work it all out.The bottom line is what we see on friday night and adjustments have to be made every year.Coach Clark wants to win and the program is first,so I see him doing whatever it takes to help Dobyns Bennett football succeed in the future.

Two coaches need to step down. I don't have to name them because it's a no-brainer. Everybody knows. Yes we had some young players this year but there has been no improvement to this point. Besides, this didn't just creep up this year. This has been going on for awhile. Your right, Clark did a good job this year. Its got to be tough running a offense when your defense is giving up over 400 yrds. a game, and you end up 8-2

I just dont see how any Coach could sit back and let it continue the next year !!

I think DB had it's best teams when they were playing in the old Big East conference against competition much like they'll see in the next two years. I think the competition made them better and it should have the same effect this time around. DB also advanced farther in the playoffs during those years. When they formed the Big East I remember the haters saying it was the end of the DB dominance because they couldn't compete with those big schools  around the Knoxville area. But DB dominated the Big East winning the conference every year except one. DB will be fine with the new lineup "IF" they do something about the defense. If not, they'll be lucky to win 5 games. I don't care how much talent they have coming up. One of the biggest reasons DB had success in the Big East was because of the great coaching on the defense side by Darrell Watson.

I think the new conference will sort of force DB to make changes to the defense.  Because I'm fairly confident 6-4 and 5-5 seasons won't cut it over there.  Maybe once every decade or so.

What's the likelihood of DB scheduling a non-conference game with a NET school such as South, THS, or Greeneville?

South will come back to the pack after this year so I don't see that happening. Tennessee High or Greeneville I could see, but we'll have to wait to find out I guess. It'd be a good gate for either team and a local trip as opposed to another far reaching one.

Tennessee High, Oak Ridge & Sevier Co. will be the out of conference games.

Yeah....that's what I've been thinking for the past 5 years. There has been no change and I hate to say I would be shocked if there is a change in the future. They obviously don't think there's a problem. Giving up over 400 yards a game is now the norm at DB.

    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
